UNITED STATES PATENT OFFIGE NATHAN JOSEPH, OF SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA.
IMPROVEMENT IN TOY PU'l'TY-BLOWERS.
Specification formingpart of Letters Patent No. l 4 5,109, dated December 2, 1873; application filed October 25, 1873.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, NATHAN JOSEPH, of San Francisco, in the county of San Francisco and State of California, have invented a new and Improved Putty-Blower, of which the following is a specification:
The first part of my invention consists of a putty-blowing tube, constructed by simply rolledges of the metal, by which they are liable to be out with the ordinary instruments.
Figure l is a side elevation of my improved putty-blowing tube, and Fig. 2 is a cross-section.
A represents a tube, of the size and length required for use as a putty-blowing instrument, such as is used by children in shooting putty,
dough, pcase, and the like for amusement. It is made of a narrow sheet of tin'or other sheet metal, rolled up in cylindrical form, in the ordinary way, but overlapped at the edges, and as neatly fitted together as they can be by being straight and true, but not soldered as they have been heretofore. C represents a mouth piece or guard, for the protection of the lips of the operator, attached to one end.
In this example said mouth-piece consists of a metal ring of wire fitted on the outside, so that the lips will be prevented from touching the edge ofthe sheet metal, and fastened in any way by solder or other suitable means.
Having thus described myin vention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- As a new article of manufacture, a tube for blowing putty, beans, &c., constructed of sheet metal bent into cylindrical form, overlapped at the edges, not united by solder or other permanent fastening, and with or without a mouthpiece, substantially as specified.
NATHAN JOSEPH.
