l The box construction described is adapted particularly to be made of the composite board referred to hereinbefore, but as the description proceeds, vit will be apparent that a box in accordance with this invention may be constructed equally as well with other types of material.

The manner of carrying out this invention will be made more apparent in the accompanying specication and drawings.

Referring now more particularly to the drawings wherein like reference characters indicate like parts, it will be noted that the material of which the box is to be formed is first b-lanked as indicated in Fig. l, thus providing a bottom 10, sides 11 back 12 and front 13. In order to enable the material to be folded into the box shape, the upper layer of wood is removed along the lines of fold as indicated at 14 and cut along the same line at the opposite side as indicated at 15 (see particularly Fig. 2.) This enables thematerial to be conveniently folded.

When :the sides, back and fend portions have been folded up, theyv are connected togetherkby clips 16 lsuch-asI illustrated in Fig. 3. The outer cornersof the box are then covered with strips of paper or fabric 17 such `as is customary in cigar vbox constructions, .itvbeing thev particular object of this invention to construct a box forcigars.

From the foregoing it will be seenA that there is provided a box adapted for cigars `or the like which will resemble in every particular cigar boxes made of wood, a composite board material however being sub-` articles may be manufactured without in any 9 manner departing `from the spirit and scope of this invention.

In alike manner composite board of other types may be employed and the details of construction of the box may be variedvwithin certain limits. To this end reservation is made to make such changes as may come within the purview of the accompanying claims.

Having thus described the invention what is claimed is:

1. A box formed of composite board, the body of said box being formed of a Single piece of material folded to form a bottom, ends and back and front portions, the outer layers of said composite board being` cut along the lines of fold, and a cover hinged to said box.

2. As an larticle of manufacture4 a box formed of multiply composite material, the body of said box being formed of a single piece of material cut and folded to forin a bottom, ends and back and front portions, the outer plies of said composite material being removed and cut along the lines of fold, clips for uniting the edges of said box and a cover of similar material hinged to said box.

3. As an karticle of manufacture a box formed of multiply composite material, the body of said box being formed of a single piece of material cut and folded to forni a bottom, ends and back and front portions, the outer plies of said composite material being' removed and cut along the lines of fold, clips for uniting the edges of said box, a cover of similar material hinged to said box, and a Wood insert in the front portion of said box to accommodate and secure a brad adapted to be driven through said cover and into said insert.

4. The method of forming a box made of composite board which consists in cutting and folding a blank of composite material to form the bottom, ends, back and front poi'- tions of the box, removing the outer layer of said composite board at one side thereof and along the lines of fold and cutting the other outer layer of said composite board on the opposite side thereof and along the lines of fold, removing a section of the interposed. layer of said composite board at the front portion of the box, inserting a Wood insert in the recess formed thereby, uniting edges of the box by clips and providing a cover to said box hinged thereto by a strip of fabric or the like.

5. As an article of manufacture a box formed of composite board, said box having a body portion formed of a single sheet of material cut and folded to form a bottom, ends and back and front portions, the outer layers of said composite materialv being cut along the lines of fold to facilitate the bending of the box into shape, metallic clips for uniting` the adjacent edges of the ends, back and front portions, a cover formed of composite board, a strip of fabric or the like pasted to said cover and to said box for securing said cover thereto and a Wood insert in the front portion of said box adapted to receive and secure a brad passing through said cover and into said Wood insert.
