SEWING.- STAND.
Application filed October 25, 1921. Serial No. 510,223.
T 0 all whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, DAVID W. FRANK, a
citizen of the United States, residing at Bethlehem, in the county of Northampton and State of Pennsylvania, have invented new and useful Improvements in Sewing Stands, of which the following is'a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in sewing stands.
An object of the invention is to provide a light andinexpensive device embodying novel features of construction whereby all the articles for sewing such as a tape meas ure, needles, thread, scissors, buttons, pins, thimbles and the like may be conveniently carried thereby.
With the above and other objects in view, the invention consists in certain novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts, as will be more fully described and particularly pointed out in the appended claims.
In the accompanying drawings,
Figure 1 is a side elevation of the invention.
Figure 2 is a vertical through the same.
Figure 3 is a top plan view thereof.
Referring now to the drawings, in which sectional view like characters of reference designate corresponding parts throughout the several views, the numeral 10 designates a circular base of any suitable material mounted upon a plurality of curved legs 11 and having a series of threaded openings 12 formed therein.
A relatively short pin 13 provided with a threaded lower end engages one of the threaded openings in the base and is adapted to receive a thim'ble 14, while a plurality of relatively long pins 15 provided with threaded lower ends engage the other openings in the base and are adapted to receive a plurality of spools 16 containing thread or cotton of different colors, sizes and kinds.
A cylindrical metallic receptacle 17 is removably secured to the base between the pins by means of a plurality of L-shaped brackets 18 which frictionally engage the inner diametrically opposite sides thereof and is adapted to receive a circular projection 19 extending downwardly at right angles from. a ring 20. The receptacle 17 is primarily adapted to receive buttons of various sizes and kinds although the same may contain any other article used in sewing such as, hooks, eyes, buckles, clasps, etc.
The ring 20 is provided upon its upper side with an upstanding annular flange 21 which receives a cushion 22 for pins, needles and similar pointed articles. The cushion is preferably provided with a body portion of saw dust which is covered with velvet although the same may be formed from any suitable material.
A plurality of hooks 22' are secured to the annular flange 21 of the cover and are adapted to support a pair of scissors, shears or the like.
A circular case 23 is removably supported upon brackets 23' secured to the lower side of the base between the legs and is provided with an opening 2a in one edge which receives a tape measure 25 of the spring operated type. The case 23 is susceptible to slidable movement to and; from its supporting brackets as the occasion may arise.
A container 26 of any suitable material and having an open upper end, is secured by a suitable means to the cylindrical receptacle 17 between two of the pins 15 and is adapted to receive packages of needles. chalk and the like.
While it is believed that from the foregoing description the nature and advan tages of the invention will be readily apparent, I desire to have it understood that I do not limit myself to what is herein shown and described, and that such changes may be resorted to when desired as fall within the scope of what is claimed.
1. A device of the character described comprising a circular base, l.-shaped brackets carried by the base, a metallic receptacle supported by the base and held removably secured thereto by frictional engagement with the L-shaped brackets, a ring member supported on the upper periphery of the receptacle, a projection formed on the ring member and extending downwardly within the receptacle to frictionally engage the inner walls thereof and an upstanding flange formed on the ring member for the purpose specified.
2. A device of the character described comprising a supported circular base,bracl'- ets depending from the bottom of the base,
a case designed to lit between the brackets and being susceptible to slidable movement therefrom, a receptacle removably secured 0n the top ofthe base, a cushion providing a cover for the receptacle and pins rising from the base and surrounding the receptacle as and for the purpose specified.
3. A' device Of the character described comprising a circular base having a plurality of screw threaded openings arranged adjacent its outer edge, pins threadedly secured Within the opening ancl'one of said 10 pins being shorter than the other, a receptacle arranged between the pins, L-
shaped brackets frictionally engaging the receptacle to hold it detachably secured to the base, a ring member having opposite off set peripheries carried by the top of the receptacle and a cushion engaging the ring as and for the purpose specified.
In testimony whereof I 'aflix my signa- DAVID WALTER FRANK.
' ture.
