IMPROVEMENT IN PORTABLE FENCES.
Specication forming part of Letters Patent No. 144,641, dated November 19, 1873; application fild April 18, 1873.
To all whom t may concern:
Beit known that I, BYRON L. TAYLOR, of Marlin, county of Falls and State of Texas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Portable Felices, of which the following is a specification:
The nature of my invention relates to an improvement in fences; and consists in the arrangement and combination of parts which will be more fully described hereafter, by which a simple, cheap, and portable fence is produced, and which can be readily folded up for trans portation from place to place.
The accompanying drawing represents my invention. A
c represents the pickets, of any desired Width and length, which are riveted to the metallic bands or strin gers c so as to form sections or panels of such a length that they can be folded back upon one another or rolled up in a continuous roll for transportation. The panels are secured together by means of the iron loops e, which allow the sections to be folded together, and a great ilexibility for convenience in handling` and setting` up. Wound in and ont around the pickets, at top and bottom, which binds them rigidly and firmly together, and then they are secured to the posts by driving a staple, or other device which will straddle over the loops, into the posts. Where the fence is to be of a light character this wire may be dispensed with.
A fence constructed in this manner is not only cheap, but very durable and convenient. It can be adapted to all kinds of ground, and when no longer needed can be folded up and put away.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
