IMPROVEMENT IN COMB-HOLDERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 144,242, dated Nu'emler 4, 1873; application filed September 26, 1873.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, EVERITT E. WHEELER, of South Norwalk, in the county of Fairfield, State of Connecticut, have invented certain Improvements in Comb-Holders, of which the following is a specification:
The object of my invention is to provide holders for fine-tooth combs which are cheap to manufacture, will prevent breakage of the combs, and the dirt and refuse from lodging and packing between the teeth near to the comb-plate, and, also, will protect the fingers be to such an extent that the sides of the same will cover the teeth of one side of the comb, the comb-plate, and a small part of the other teeth, where they extend from the comb-plate. The holder is made so wide that the ends of the slot extend somewhat, say a quarter of an inch, on both sides of the teeth.
When the comb is placed in the holder, care should be taken to push the same to the end of the slot, as this will prevent twisting of the comb and the refuse to lodge between the ends of the teeth near to the comb-plate. The dirt and refuse can readily be removed by simply employing a piece of paper or cloth and wipe the refuse downward from the end of the holder, where it lodges, over the teeth.
In order to more fully describe my inven tion, I refer to the accompanying drawing forming a part of this specification.

Having thus described my invention, I desire to claim- A holder for fine-tooth combs, constructed substantially as and for thepurpose described.
