To ZZ 107mm mayjconeern A Be it known that L'Dnnron SQHARTsinnN,
and State of ljennsylvania, have invented.
certainv new and .useful'Improvements vin Container s,* of which the ,following is a specii'ic'ation;
vlo
This inventionrelates tol means'ffor', securing corners, rtops ,'orbottoms ,onfreceptacles ,of which boxes, chests, drawers, cratesv and trunks vare common' examples.` n
tv comprises suitablezsides and ends with a rei'n'l'o'rcing binding strip of substantially r4U section :covering and protecting the :ends of niateriahof Y which the eontaineru'ismade; said*-reinforc-` ing strip being provided withalternate spacesand teeth, the teeth of one member fitting into the spaces of the adjacentmem vber and being held in correct` relative position by a pin or rod passing through the in'- In connection ,with the foregoing, I pref` e'rably employ plates or Aangles through .which the rods pass, to fasten the top and bottom of the box in position.
An object of the invention is the reinforceL ment of the material from which ,the body of` 4. the container is made, such as preventing wood from tearing. n y
In addition to this, I` have an excellent splitting, or paper or libre from the interlocking` reinforcingstrips.
, Vleans for fastening the corners together by.
, A further ob'ectv ofthe invention is the provision of a containerwhich may be ,usedas a boX for shipping, and which permits the bor; to be collapsed when emptied vand returned to sender, saving space and costin shipping.
A further advantage ofthe invention is the provision of a boX, having parts of '1 standard size, whereby' a broken part may be replaced without the necessity of discard-` ing the wholeboX.
To illustrate my inventioml' have chosen a box which shows the novel features, several embodiments of whichjare shown in the accompanying drawing,
Figure 1' fs aperspective view of the box assembled,` y Y f `Figure 2 is a vertical sectional view on line 2li), of Figure l,V Figure isa detailed viewshowing modiedtype of fastening means,

igures 1 and 2 of the drawing, have shown ka t fastening element provided with headsV 12 formed thereon in any suitabley manner, as vby swagmg.
` In Figure 3 of thedrawmgs, I have shown `r forced by the metallic reinforcing members which vprevent the walls from splitting. .The boXrmay be quickly assembled and disassem` bled permitting it to be returned to the `sender at` a great reduction in cost.
The parts employed are iterchangeable` which permits afbroken part to be replaced v without discarding the whole box.y
Itis to'be understood that the form of my invention herewith shown and described is 'to be taken as avpreferred example of the same, and that various changes in the shape,
size, and arrangement of parts may. be resorted to Without departing from the spirit of they inventionor the Vscope of the subjoine'd claims.
Having thus claim: Y A
l. A container comprising side and end sections7 the ends of said sections beingprovided with interlocking reinforcing 4niembers, a top and'y bottom for said container, plates arranged on said end sections to retain top and bottom in position and fastening members engaging said plates and said interlocking reinforcing members.
. 2. A container-consisting of side and end sections and a top and'bottom, plates arranged on saidY top and bottom, and connect ing members passing through said container .andthrougli said platesto hold them init-heir respective places. .y
3.`A .container consisting of side and end rsections and a bottom, reenforcingl strips arranged across the bottom of the container,
and connecting-k members passing through saidlstrps and through .Said side and end sectionsto hold said strips in position. 'e
4. Alt collapsible box ycomprising kside and described my invention, I
end sections, substantialliP U shaped reinforcing members secured to the ends of said sections and projecting therefrom, said reinforcing members being provided with spaced notches adapted to receive portions ofthe adjacent reinforcing members, angle plates arranged on said end sections, a top vandbottom for said box, said angle plates engaging said angle plates and Vsaid inter? locking reinforcing members.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence o'ftwo Witnesses.
