AUTOMOBILE TOOL KIT.

- T 0 all whom it may concern Be it known that I, GEORGE VuS'rnrrrNs, a citizen of the United States residing'at St, Louis, Missouri, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Automobile Tool Kits, of which the following. is a' full, clear, and exact description, such as will enable others skilled in the artto which it appertains to make and use the same.

This-invention relates to tool kits of the kind used by automobilists.

The main: object of-my invention is to providea compact tool kit that'comprises the tools necessary for making minor repairs or adjustments of an automobile and also a means for protecting the hands, cuffs and coat sleeves of the userfrom dirt during the operation of using the tools of the kit.

Another object is to provide a-novelcontainer, carrier or holder for a number of automobile tools.

To this end I have-devised atool kit which is composed of the tools most generally used in making minor-repairs or adjustments of an automobile, and a holder or container for said tools consisting of apair of long sleeve gloves in which the tools are adapted to be encased when the kit is not in use. The gloves are preferably made of canvas or other suitable fabric, and means are provided for securing the gloves after they have been folded or rolled up to encase the tools and for holding the tools in such relation to each other that the tools and the gloves can be rolled into a compact bundle which is small enough to be stored away in one of the door pockets of an automobile or under one of the seats. In the form of my invention herein illustrated one glove of the pair is provided with pockets in which the tools are adapted to be arranged in substantially parallel relation transversely of the sleeve portion of the-glove, and one of the gloves is provided with a strap, tape or other suitable means that can-be used to secure said gloves in their folded or rolled condition. I wish it to be understood, however, that-it is immaterial, so far as my invention is con.-

glove or what type of pocketor retaining means is used for the tools, as my broad idea consists in using a long sleeve glove or a pair of long sleeve gloves to form a flexible tool holder, container or carrier that is adapted to be folded or rolled up so as to encase a number of tools when the tools'are not in use.

Referring to the drawings, which illustrate the preferred formjof my invention, A

designates a pair of gloves, preferably formed, of canvas or other suitable fabric, and each provided with a sleeveportion 1 that is adapted to be pulledup' over the coat sleeves of the person who wears the gloves. Oneglove of the pair is provided with pockets for receiving the tools most generally usedfor making minor repairs or adjustments of an automobile, such, forv example, as a screw driver 2, a pair of'pliers 3,- an ad ustable end wrench 4- and aspark pl'ugwrench composed of a socket member 5 and a short bar 6 for actuating said socket member. It is, of course, immaterial, what particular type, kind or number of tools the kit is provided with, and while the tool pockets of the glove can be formed in various ways without departing from the spirit of myinvention, I prefer to provide the sleeve port-ion l of one glove with a strip B of canvas or other suitable material that extends lengthwise of saidsleeve portion and which is secured to same at a number of separated points by rows of stitches so as to form loops in said strip that constitute pockets in which the tools can be arranged in parallel relation transversely of the sleeve portion of the glove. After the tools have been arranged in operative position in said pockets the two gloves of the pair are arranged one upon the other and are then folded or rolled up into a bundle so as toencase the tools, as shown in Figure 1, the gloves being retained or secured in their folded or rolled condition by a means which may consist of a strap, tape or strand C preferably secured to one of the gloves and adapted to be passed around the bundle and secured by a knot If desired, the sleeve portion of each glove can be provided adjacent its upper end with a strap 7, as shown I i in Figure 1, that is adapted to be tightened so as to draw the sleeve portion snugly around the arm of the user, and thus pr vent it from dropping down when the gloves in use.

From the foregoing it will be seen that I have produced an automobile tool kit which is a decided improvement on the conventional automob le tool kit eipiippedwith tool holder or carrier consisting of a rectangular-shaped piece of canvas in which the tools are adapted to be rolled, owing to the fact that the portion of my kit which serves as a carrier or casing for the tools when the kit is not in use consists of a pair of long sleeve gloves that the user will naturally slip on before starting to use the tools, becausethey are ready for use as soon as the kit is unrolled.

Having thus described my invention, What I claim as new and desire to secure Letters Patent is:

1. An automobile tool kit, comprising a plurality of tools, a glove provided with a long sleeve portion, and pockets in said sleeve portion tor holding the tools in substantially parallel relation transversely ot the sleeve portion, said glove being adapted to be folded or rolled up so as to encase the tools.

2. An automobile tool kit, comprising a screw-driver, wrench and pliers, a glove provided with a sleeve portion, and a strip arranged longitudinally of said sleeve portion and secured to same at a number of points so as to form pockets for said tools, said .said sl e glove being adapted to be folded or rolled up so asto encase the tools.

3. An automobile tool kit, comprising a plurality of automobile tools, a pair of gloves provided; with long sleeve portions, a strip extending longitudinally of the sleeve portion of one of said gloves and connected to same at a number of points by rows of stitches so as to form pockets in which the tools can be arranged in parallel relation transversely of said sleeve portion, said gloves being adapted to be folded or rolled up so as to encase the tools when the kit is not in, use, and means for securing said gloves in folded or rolled condition.

4.. A tool holder or carrier for automobile tool kits. consisting of a glove having a long sleeve portion provided with a plural ot' transversely disposer tool pockets and adapted to be folded or rolled into a compact bundle when the kit is not in use.

6. A tool kits, 1: nsisting of? a glove formed of canvas or other suitable fabric and provided with a long sleeve portion, a strip arranged longitudinally of sleeve portion and secured to same at a number oi points so as to form transverse pockets in which a plurality of conventional automobile tools can be arranged said glove being adapted to be tolded or rolled up so as to encase the tools when the kit is not in use, and means for securing the glove in its folded or rolled condition.
