UNITED STATES PATENT Uri-Ion JOHN BANNER, on oANToN, onio.
IMPROVEMENT IN REVOLVING SHELVES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 143,888, dated October 21,1873; application filed September 15, 1873.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN DANNER, of Ganton, in the county of Stark and State of Ohio,
have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Revolving Shelves; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings making a lates to a series of shelves secured to a manysided frame, and without a central shaft, and having a series of flanged wheels connected thereto, which will run upon a circular track laid upon the floor, and thus stand or move firmly with its load, as will be explained.
My revolving shelf, as shown in the drawing, is of rectangular form, and is constructed of four upright posts, a a a a, united by crosspieces b b b, &c., which project beyond the posts to which they are fastened, to form supports for the shelves 0 c c, &c. To the under side of the frame of shelves so constructed, or to a metal ring united to or with said frame, there is attached, by suitable stirrup-irons, a
series of flanged wheels, cl d d, &c., which run upon a circular rail or track, e,'so that the re volving shelf may be readily revolved, to bring any portion of it to the front. It is not neces sary that the rail or track 6 should be permanently fastened upon the floor, as the flanged wheels will always keep it in place, and thus the structure may be portable, and moved from place to place, as may be desired. These shelves are particularly useful in stores for holding, as well as displaying goods of various kinds. 7
I have represen ted the shelves as square, with rounded corners, and of uniform projection, but they may be circular or conical, with receding shelves, if so preferred, or their particular use should require such.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-- The revolving shelf herein described, and composed of the frame a b, shelves 0, flanged wheels d, and circular rail 0, constructed and arranged to turn or revolve without any cen-,
tral shaft or support, as described and represented.
JOHN DANNER.
