FltANK DAVISON, r DETROIT. MICHIGAN stre m ronnsermnnnrne Borrrns Ann TOYS.
a lication ai'eanuvemter 9; 1920. Serial no. 422,850.
To all e 710m it ma concern yBe it known-that I, F ANK Dawson, a sub'ject of the King of Great Britain, rcsidinir'at Detroit, in the county of Wayne and tate-of Michigan, have invented cerminus: and useful Improvements in Supports for Baby-Feeding Bottles and Toys, of which the followin-gis a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in supports or thetype utilized 'for 'holdi-ng Bottles, and theprimary-objects oi thepresent invention "are to provide an improved device for holding nursing bott le's in place for nursing, which is soconstructed t lrat'the bottle can be moved to and held in any desired position against accidental displace men-t, which *is' most convenient fora-the infant, and according to the nature of the article or support with which the bottle is togbe associated; to provide-means for permisting "the device "to be associated with dilf'erent kinds of :supports, furniture or the like, such as a crib,..high chair, baby carriageorthe like, and toprovi de means whereby the improved holder may be associated with a portable supp ort j when it is not convenient to attach the same to an article of baby furniture.
A further object of the invention-is to provide an improved holder, which is not i only adaptable torholding nursi'ng bottles,
but which is also adapted for holding toys, suchrattles, balls or the like, in such a. position that the same will always be berm-the eyes ofthe infantand in such a position that the-same can be hit by the A fur ther object of the in ention is to i provide novel joint connection for the improved holder, whereby the same can be moved at angle and held in a convenient and expedient manner.
still further-object of the invention is to provide an improved holder for baby nursing bottles, toys or the like of the above character which is durable and efiicient in use, one that is simple and easy to manufacture, and one which can be placed upon the market at a reasonable cost.
With these and other objects in view, the invention consists in the novel construction, arrangement and formation of parts as may be hereinafter morespecifically described, claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, forming; a part of this specification, in which:
Figure 1 is a perspective View of the improved support showing the same in operative position for supporting a bottle and in relation to a crib.
Figure 2 is a perspective view of the improved bottle support showing the same connected to a portable supporting base.
Figure 3 is an enlarged fragmentary detail perspective view of the inner end of the supporting arm.
Figure 4 is an enlarged detail perspective view of the connecting joint utilized for connecting the supporting; arm with the attachingrhook, and
Figurefi is an enlarged fragmentary detail -perspe'ctiveview of the inner end'of the 'attaching hook.
'Referring vto the drawings. in deta],
wherein similar reference characters designate corresponding parts throughout the several views. the letter A indicates the improved milk bottle support which is adapted to be connected with a crib B or other article "of baby furniture, such as a .higl'i chair, carriage or the like. 7
The improved bottle-support A. comprises a supporting arm 10. which may be of: any desired length andmade from any desired material. The arm 10 has secured thereto adjacent to its. outer end, the substantially circularsplitclasp 11 which is adapted to detachably receive and hold a nursing bottle, shown in dotted linesin Figure 1 of the drawings. This clasp 11 may be secured in place 'bya suitablepin 12 and if desired'this clasp may be pirotally mounted upon the pin 12 so as to adjust the angle of the bottle in relation to the supporting arm. The ner end of the 1 O has connected thereto by Iiiea-ns of an adjustable link hook 14. which is adapted to permit the supporting arm to be connected to a. crib as shown in the drawings or a baby carriage, high chair or other support. The hook 1 1 includes arms 15 and a connecting bight portion 16 and the outer arm 15 is outturned as at 17 so as to facilitate the positioning; of the same upon a bed or other support. This hook 14: is preferably formed of resilient metal, so that the arms 15 will frictionally engage the article upon which it is placed. As shown in the drawings the same is placed in connection with a crib which includes the usual longitudinal rail 18 upon which the hook is adapted to be placed. The inner arm is provided with a right angular extending toot 19 which forms threaded for the reception of the thumb nut 23 and by tigl'itening the nut the linlr 13 may be held in any preferred adjusted position on the hook 19. Disposed at right angles to the ears 20 and 21 is a reduced outwardly ex tending lug 2a and tl is lug- 2a is adapted to be disposed between a pair 01 spacedears 25 and 26 formed onthe inner end ofthe arm 10. These cars 25 and Sad-are formed by bifurcating the inner end of the arm 10 as at 27. The cars 25 and 26 are provided with registering openings 29 which adapted to align with an opening 30 formed in the lug 2st and these openings are adaptedto-receive a suitable pivot pin upon which is threaded an adjustable thumb nut 31. By this construction, it can be seen that the arm IIO'ca-n be swung in a vertical plane to any desired position and by tightening the thumb nut 31 this arm can be held in any desired adjusted position. i T
it is also desirable to permit the arm 10 to support a suitable toy such as a ball or rattle designated by the numeral In order to support the toy, the outer end of the arm 10 is provided with a screw eye 3 1- and a suitable supporting cord is threaded through the screw eye 34 and attached to the ball or rattle 33. 1 i r i In use of: the improved. bottle support, the hook 142: is placed over a suitable support,
. such as the rail 18 0i a crib B and the thumb nut 23 is loosened so as to permit the arm 10 to be swung in a horizontal plane to the desiredposition. This thumb uut23lis then tightened. After the arm 10 has been ineved to the desired position in a horizontal plane the thumb nut 81 is loosened and the arm 10 is adjusted in vertical plane to the desired position so to support the bottle at the desired angle and height after which the thumb nut is tightened. Thus itcan be seonthat thebottle can be held. in de sired position which can be "conveniently reached by the intant and held. against ac- ,idental displacement. This construction provides an exceptionally simple and dura ble means for holding the bottle and eliminates the trouble and inconvenience heretobe'l ore experienced in feeding an infant from a bottle.
In some instances where the support can not be conveniently attached to a part of the crib or high chair a support 36 is utilized. This support 36 includes a vertically disposed standard 3? and a base plate 38. It can beseen that the support 36 can be placed upon any flat surface, such as atable. or the like, and the upper end of the standard 37 carries an outwardly extending pivotpin which is adapted'to be placedin anyone of a plurality of openings 39 formed in the arm 10 for that purpose. A wing nut 40 is threaded upon the pivot pin'so that the-arm 10 can be held-in any desired position or angle in relation to the standard 37.
Changes in details may be made without departing from thespirit orscopeof this in vention; but, Y 1
I plainly H i i w A support for nursing bottles comprising an elongated arm, a U-shaped; attaching clip disposed at one end of thearm, the inner end oi said arm being bifurcated toprovidea pair 01' pivot ears, an inwardly extending pivot ear formed onthe lowerterminal of the inner legv oil the "clip,; aconneeting link arranged intermediatethe attaching, clip and the mentioned end oi.;thearm,"said linl; including a longitudin ally disposed verticall positioned pivot ear; positioned intermediate the pivot ears formed-on the inner end of the arm, and a pairo't spaced pivot ears arranged. in horizontal plane for re ceiving the pivot ear formed on the clip, means pivot-ally connecting said pivot ears of .the link, the clip and the arm together, a laterally extending bottle clip carried by the arm adj acent to its outer endgand means for pivotally securing the bottle clip to its arm.
In testimony whereof I my signature.
i FRANK DAVISON.
