UNHTED stares FEDERICO CATINI, OF POIVIEROY, OHIO.
ATTACHMENT FOR SODA-FOUNTAIN FAUCETS.
Application filed August 3, 1921. Serial No. 489,536.
T all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FEDERICO CATINI residing at Pomeroy, in the county of eigs and State of Ohio, a citizen of the United States, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Attachments for Soda- Fountain Faucets, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to an improvement in attachments for soda fountain faucets.
The purpose of this invention is to provide means for automatically stirring the ingredients, such as syrup and carbonated water, to be thoroughl intermixed 1n a drink, this being done with the discharge of the fluid into theglass or receptacle where the mixing takes place.
In the accompanying drawing:
Fig. l is a side view;
Fig. 2 is an enlarged view taken from the side, and partly in vertical section;
Fig. 3 1s a fragmentary horizontal sec tion on line '22 of Fig. 2.
The numeral 1 indicates the usual nozzle of a soda-fountain, and 2, is the handle for operating the same. In In attach'ment, the numeral 3 indicates a cylinder; 4, is a removable cap preferably screwed to the upper end of the cylinder; 5, is a perforated diaphragm extending across the cylinder just below the inlet 6 from the nozzle 1.
The stem of a spindle 7 is rotatably supported in central orifices 8 and 9 in the cap 4 and diaphragm 5 respectively. Se- 35 cured on the spindle 7 is a screw-propeller 10, which receives the force of the carbonated water or other fluid from the nozzle and causes a rapid rotation of the spindle.
The spindle has a stirrer 11 on its lower end, which is inserted in the glass, and which agitates and intermixes the ingredients therein, thus producing a blend in flavor that cannot be had by the usual stirring with a spoon. A
Theattachment may be held in place in any approved manner, but preferably by means of a split clamp 12 which is fastened around the nozzle by the bolt 13.
Rods 14, of which there are two, but only one shown, extend from this clamp through holes in the plate 15 on the upper end of the inlet 6. A cup 16 is formed in the upper end of the inlet 6 to receive the lower end of the nozzle, as shown in Fig. 2, and in this is a packing 17, making a fluid-tight joint, and this may be tightened at any time by turning the nuts 18 on the threaded rods 11 to the right, as shown in Fig. 1.
- In this Way, a simple attachment is provided which can be easily applied to, or removed from, a soda-fountain or other nozzle, and it is of such a character that the mixing proceeds as the fluid is discharged into the receptacle, so that the flow of the carbonated water ,or other liquid is utilized for the two-fold purpose of making the blend and also actuating the stirring device which mixes the ingredients as the drink is drawn.
I claim:
The combination with a nozzle, of a cylinder, an inlet discharging thereinto and having a cap in its outer end containing a packing and adapted to receive the end of the nozzle, a clamp detachably secured to the nozzle, threaded rods extending from the clamp to the inlet, nuts adapted to screw on the rods and draw the inlet and nozzle securely together, and form a fluid-tight joint, and steering means in the cylinder operated by fluid from the nozzle.
In testimony whereof I hereunto aflix my signature.
FEDERICO CATINI.
