Mixers with circulating -devices.- The apparatus of the parent invention is modified by the provision of mechanical means for separating the yeast from the liquid, such means being operative below the upper end of the hollow agitating member and obviating the provision of an opening in the side of the container. The main vessel 1 containing the fermenting liquid and yeast is provided with a hollow rotating member 2 having a conical upper end 3, the liquid being raised by the rotation of the member 2, 3 and discharged over the lip 4 upon or into the yeast occupying the position 5. The member 2, 3 is driven by a motor 7 the shaft 8 of which is connected to a spider 10 by a universal joint 9. For separating the yeast, a hollow body 11 having a tube 12 passing through the bottom of the vessel is adjustable by means of a screw 15 and hand wheel 16 so that its surface is above that of the liquid. In a modification, the tube 12 is dispensed with and the bottom of the container 11 closed, the yeast being removed by means of a pump. In another form, Fig. 3, the vessel 1 is divided into upper and lower compartments 20, 19 by a partition 21 an opening 22 in the latter being provided with a lip 23. A tube 25 extends into the lower compartment and is provided with a valve 26.
