AApplication filed February 9,1921. Serial No. 443,524,
To all whom t may concern.'
Be it known that I, JOSEPH TUozzoLi, a citizen of the United States, and resident of Bridgeport, in the county of F airfield and State of Connecticut, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Spraying Devices for Hot and Cold wWater Faucets, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to an improved spraying device for shampooing purposes of the type adapted to be attached to two separate het and cold water faucets and for the purpose of delivering water of desirable temperature for the use specified to the spray nozzle of the shampooing device.
It frequently happens, particularly in the case of faucets installed in connection with kitchen sinks and upon which the device of the invention will be found to be especially useful, that there is no single faucet adapted to deliver, through a common outlet, water from both a hot and cold water supply, and the separate faucets for hot and cold water are, naturally, not always spaced the same distance apart.
The object of the present invention is to produce a simple, substantial, and efficient shampooing device for home use of novel construction and provided with adjustable means whereby the device may be securely fastened upon hot and cold water faucets though spaced varying distances from each other.
With the above and other objects in View, the invention comprises the construction and arrangement of parts as now to be fully described and hereinafter specifically claimed.
In the accompanying drawing forming a part of this specification,
Fig. l is a perspective view of the shampooing device as when applied for use, showing, in dotted lines, hot and cold7 Water faucets; and
F ig. 2 is a central vertical sectional view of the flexible adjustable coupling of the device and adapted to be fastened upon one of the water faucets, for example, the one at the left in Fig. l.
In the drawing, l0 denotes a vertical pipe having a T il upon its lower end, and l2 and 13 denote, respectively, outwardly disposed, upwardly projected intake pipes having connection with the 'l'. The vertical pipe, T and intake pipes are all preferably composed of some substantial material such as metal. Intake pipe 13 is provided with a threaded coupling le by means of which it can be properly and securely attached to the cold water faucets, designated A in the drawing, and intake pipe 12 has secured upon its upwardly disposed. end a flexible, adjustable coupling l5 adapted to be' forced upon the hot water faucet designated as B in the drawing. I preferably provide the flexible, adjustable couplingl with an opening i6 at its outer end to yieldably and tightly receive the water faucet in about the manner suggested at the left hand side of Fig. l.
rl`he vertical pipe is preferably bent in about the manner shown at some point spaced from the T, as suggested by numeral 17, and to the end of the bent portion I attach one end of a flexible pipe 18 upon the opposite end of which is arranged a spray nozzle 19.
Obviously, hot and cold water flowing from the faucets mixes in the T and vertical pipe supplying water to the spray nozzle having any preferred temperature. The flexible, adjustable coupling furnishes the substantial device as already described with ready, simple and practical means for applying the article of manufacture to faucets spaced at varying distances apart. I have shown in dotted lines in Fig. 2 the manner in which the flexible, adjustable coupling may be made to function. When the faucets are spaced from each other as shown in Fig. l, the fiexible, adjustable coupling will be as shown in full lines; but when spaced a greater or a less distance apart, the coupling will approximate one of the positions shown in dotted lines, toward either one side or the other of the full line position.
Having' thus fully described the invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
A shampooing device comprising a metal main pipe having a metal 'l' upon one of its ends and having its opposite end bent forward, a flexible pipe attached to said bent end, a spray nozzle upon the free end of said flexible pipe, l -shaped metal intake pipes connected with said T and extending outwardly and upwardly different heights to be connected with separate hot and cold water faucets, a :metal coupling upon one of said intake pipes adapted to be turned for threadable attachment to the cold water bendalole coupling may not become removed from its faucet. A
Signed at Bridgeport, in the county of Fairfield and State of Connecticutj this 5th day of February, A. D'. 1921.
