Description

l. B. RICO.
WATER SPRINKLER.
APPLICATION nLEu JULY 15.19us.
1,305,11 1 Patented June 3, 1919.
IIWE TOR JOJIPH lPlco A TTORNE VS JOSEPH B. RICO, DE LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA.
WATER-SPRINKLER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented June 3, 1919.
Application filed July 15, 1918. Serial No. 244,908.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I. osnrn B. Rico, a citizen of the United States. residing at the city of Los Angeles, in the county of Los Angeles and State of California have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Water-Sprinklers, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to a wire Water sprinkler intended for insertion in the outlet end of the hose in lieu of the ordinary nob zle or it may be inserted in the end of any pipe of suitable size through which water may be supplied the pipe or material from which it is formed making no material difference in the working of the sprinkler. My sprinkler may also be used in the usual under ground sprinkling system such as is used at present in public parks and like places and the object thereof is to provide a cheap. simple and ciiicient device for that purpose.
A further object is to provide a device of the above character which can be easily and quickly attached or detached from its place of use.
Other objects and advantages will appear hereinafter and while I have shown and will describe my preferred forms of construction it will be understood that I do not limit myself to such preferred forms but that various changes and adaptations may be made therein without departing from the spirit of my invention.
In the drawings accompanying and forming a part of this application Figure 1 is an edge elevation of my device with two coils.
Fig. 2 is an edge elevation of my device with three coils.
Referring to the drawings my device comprises a piece of wire or like material bent centrally of its length to form one or more coils 10, and having, the free ends 11 and 12 of the material forming the device bent at a right angle to extend outwardly it being understood that the number of coils determines the fineness of the spray. the more Gopies of this patent may be obtained for five cents each, by addressin coils used the finer the ground it covers.
By the use of this device I have provided a cheap. simple and eflicient form of sprinklcr which is adapted to a great variety of forms and dimensions and which may be designed according to the amount and shape of the desired spray.
In the use of my device it is first inserted in the outlet end of the hose with the outwardly extending prongs downmost. these prongs acting to bite into the material of the pipe or hose and retain the device in its position of use, it being understood that the material used will have suflicient resiliency to effect this result.
Having described my invention what I claim is:
1. A water sprinkler formed of a single piece of resilient wire bent centrally of its length to form a plurality of coils and having its free ends extended downwardly from opposite ends of said coils in parallel relation but spaced apart and then bent at right angles to r'orm retaining stops for retaining said ends in their position of use.
2. A water sprinkler formed from a single piece of resilient wire bent centrally of its length to form a plurality of concentric convolutions and having its free ends extended downwardly from opposite ends of said convolntions in parallel relation a short distance but spaced apart. and then bent at right angles to form retaining stops for said ends adapted to hold said sprinkler in its position of use.
3. A water sprinkler formed of a single piece of wire bent intermediate its length into a plurality of spaced concentric convolutions and having its free ends extending downwardly from opposite ends of said con volutions but spaced apart in parallel rela tion and then bentat a right angle to form retaining stops.
In witness that I claim the foregoing I have hereunto subscribed my name this 1st day of July 1918.
