Description

F. J. FELL. COMBINED SHADE AND CURTAIN ROD HOLDER. APPLICATION FILED APR; 13, 1921.
1. 481 ,786 Patented; Oct. M, 1922 Patented @ct lltll, T922.
entree stats FRANK J. FELL, 0F DETROIT, MICHIGAN.
COMBINED SHADE AND Application filed April 13,
To whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FRANK J. FELL, a citizen of the United States, residing at Detroit, in the county of Wayne and State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Combined Shade and Curtain-Rod Holders, of which the following 1s a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.
This invention relates to combined shade and curtain rod holders and has for an object to provide a device embodying new and improved features for clamping and holding a curtain rod in proper position relative to a shade roller.
A further object of the invention is to provide a device comprising substantially a plate having means for journaling a shade roller and a notch to receive a curtain rod witha latch pivoted thereto for the purpose of retaining the curtain rod in the notch.
With these and other objects in view, the invention comprises certain novel elements, parts, units, combinations, mechanical movements and functions as will be hereinafter more fully described and claimed.
In the drawings Figure 1 is a view of a conventional window frame showing two of the holders of the present invention associated therewith supporting a curtain rod and shade roller.
Figure 2 is a view of one of the holders n side elevation, showing in section a curtain rod and shade roller mounted thereon as will be'indicated by line 2-2 of Figure l,
Figure 3 is a view of one of the units in edge elevation. I
Figure 4 is a transverse sectional view through the look by which the latch is retained in latching position taken on line 4-4 of Figure 2.
lLike characters of reference indicate corresponding parts throughout the several views.
The improved shade and curtain pole holder, which forms the subject matter of this application, comprises a pair of plates 10 and 11 which may be formed by folding a single sheet of material along the line 12, although the integrality is wholly immaterial to the present invention. Flanges 13 and 14 are provided with perforations 15 through which fasteners 16, such as nails,
and comprising an U-shaped member CURTAIN-ROD HOLDER.
1921. Serial No. 460,870.
screws or the like, may be insei ted to secure the devices to the window franc l7. Pivoted to the combined plates 1: and 11 is a latch 18, the pivot point being at 19 adjacent the flanges 13 and 14. The lat 3h 18 is substantially U-shaped as shown more particularly at Figure 4 and is pro ided with a lock embodying indentations of the material 20 which pass yieldingly over the heads 21 of the rivet 22. If, as shown in the drawing, the device is made of two plates as distinguished from a single plate folded at the line 12, the rivet 22 and the pivot rivet 19 will hold such combined pla s in the unita-ry sti ucture.
The combined plates are provided with a notch 23 and the latch 18 with a registering notch 24 which combine when in latched position to grasp and retain a curtain rod 25.
The structure shown as an organized unit at Figure 3 is one of a pair employed in spaced relation upon the window frame as shown at extending therebetween and formed with perforations to receive the pintles 26 of the shade roller 27.
It will be obvious that the pair of units are secured rigidly to the window frame in the position shown at Figure 1 properly spaced to receive and accommodate the pintles of the shade roller and that after being so positioned such shade roller may be put into position and also the curtain rod 25 laid into the notches 23 and latched into such position by latching both of the latches 18 down over such curtain rod until the depressions 2O snap over the heads 21 of the rivet 22 retaining the latches in closed position which in turn retains the curtain rod in operative position.
What I claim to be new is:
1. A curtain rod and shade roller fixture comprising superposed plates having their edges turned outwardly'to form oppositely extending flanges, rivets extending through the said plates, one of said rivets forming a pix'ot. a latch pivoted upon said pivot rivet roportioned to close over the edge of the sn perposed plates, said superposed plates and latch having registering notches proportioned to receive and retain a curtain rod, and depressions formed in said latch ada Figure 1 with the curtain rod 25 ed to snap over the other of said rivets to serve as a lock to retain said latch in closed position.
2. A curtain rod and shade roller fixture comprising two plates having juxtapose upper edges with registering notches and a I channel latch appropriately proportioned to embrace the said upper edges and having a notch registering with the notches of the plates, a lock for the latch, and means to 10 attach the organized structure to a window frame. v
In testimony whereof I hereunto afiix d my signature in presence, of two witnesses.
