Specification of Letters Patent.
PatentedAu Q15, 1922.
Application filed Jul 's," 1921. Serial no. 483,339.
To all whom i; may obnc'e m:
Be it known that I, FREDERICK L LAND DAVIDSON, 'a subject of the King of Great Britain, and resident of the city of Halifax, in the Prdvince of Nova Scotia and Dominion of Canada, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Dish-Washing Machines, of which the following is a specification. p
. This invention relates. to improvements which .the -plates. are held in racks and washed'by water splashed against them by rotary splashers, and the objects of the invention are generally to improve the con struction of the splashing device to enable it to better perform the functions required ofit.-- g
consists essentially of a particular form of a hub having diametrically opposite vanes, one of which is curved and "provided with a flattened por- 1 tion soas to splash a larger quantity of I figures.
chine. With the aboyeand other objects in view, the invention consists essentially of the imwater against the'plates in the washing ma ,proved construction particularly described and set forth in the following specification and accompanying drawings forming. part- Referring to the drawings: A represents a dish washing machine of the type described in my previous Patent No. 1,360,192, issued 'November 23, 1920,
used in connection with a dish washin which comprises'a casing 10 having a reciprocal plate holder '11 and racks of inverted U-shape 12 designed'to supportthe plates.
The casing carries two bearing members 13 on which is rotatably mounted a shaft 14 having an end extending through the wall of the casing 10 and provided with a gear 15 designed to mesh with a larger gear 16 having a crank [17 throu h which the shaft may be suitably rotate I On the shaft 14 there is mounted a plurality of splashers which are here show-11' intwo diiferent positions on the shaft, but.
it must be understood may be mounted on any angles which would be found to be adapted to splash more water against the plates. p
The splashers B each comprise a huh 18 formed with two diametrically opposite vanes 19 and 20, and provided with an 01'1- fice which is engaged by a set screw 21- designed to bear against the shaft 14 and secure the splasher B thereon to the desired angle. The vane 19 of the splasher'extends i straight from the hub, while the vane 20 is curvilinear in longitudinal section and provided with a flattened portion 21, which is designed to splash a larger quantityof water against the plates mounted on the racks 11 and 12.
It will be seen that when this splasher is machine as illustrated, that the water Wlll'bfi splashed against the plates in the racks 11 and 12, and no water will gather between the vanes of the members, as would be'the case when the splasher is formed of four boards, as is usually used in connection with these washers.
It will-be seen that the casing may also be I provided with an outlet 22 through which the water in the casing may be let out.
As many changes could be made in the above construction and many apparently widely different embodiments of my invention within the scope of the clalm, constructed without departing from thespiri't or scope thereof, itis intended that all matter contained in the accompanying specifieation and drawings shall be interpreted as illustrative and notin a limiting sense.
What I claim as my invention is:
In combination With a washing machine of the kind described, a rotary shaft, a splasher on the shaft comprising a hub, with two diametrically opposite vanes extending therefrom, one of the vanes being i eae aee curved longitudinally( and. a flattened poir- 10 tien en the outer end of the curved vane.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand in the presence of two Witnesses.
