Description
I. E. CLUMl CORNCRIB.
APFLiCATlON FILED DEC. 10, 1919.

IRA n. CLUM, or LIMA, OHIO.
CORNGRIB.
Application filed December 10, 1919.
T 0 all whom it may concern:
Be it known. that I, IRA E. CLUM, a citizen of the United States, residing at Lima, in the county of Allen and State of Ohio, have invented a new and usefulCorncrib, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to metallic corn cribs and like structures, one of the objects bein to provide a device of this character having ventilating openings in the wall thereof formed by striking metal flaps out of the wall, the flaps being so positioned that they will reduce to the minimum all danger of rain beating into the crib.
With the foregoing and other objects in view, which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that, within the scope of what is claimed, changes in the precise embodiment of the invention shown can be made without departing from the spirit of the invention.
In the accompanying drawing the preferred form of he invention has been shown.
In said drawing- Figure 1 is an elevation of a portion of a crib wall having the present improvement combined therewith.
Figure 2 is a section on line 2-2, Figure 1.
Figure 3 is an enlarged section through a portion of the wall.
Referring to the figures by characters of reference 1 designates a section of a crib wall provided with longitudinal corrugations. Openings are formed within this wall and are disposed in staggered relation, these openings being indicated at 2. Said Specification of Letters Patent.
Serial No. 343,849.
I openings are produced by striking metal tabs lower edge of the metal lip will swing downwardly and outwardly and it thus be comes impossible for rain to beat past the lower end of the lip and into the opening 2 unless it moves upwardly under said lip 3 and-to the opening. An ordinary driving rain would strike the lip and be deflected thereby from the opening 2 and onto the downwardly and outwardly inclined portion of the corrugation. This would be true even though the rain should beathorizontally against the wall. 1
What is claimed is:
A metal wall for provided with horizontal angular corrugations and outstruck rectangular lips upon the under or overhanging portions of the exterior corrugations, said lips providing angular ventilating openings in said portions, the lower edges of the lips being disposed in horizontal planes extending below the horizontal lower edges of the openings back of the lips, all of the lips being disposed ver- Patented A us, 1922.
corn cribs and the like tically with their side edges substantially in the same vertical plane with the corresponding edges of the opening.
In testimony that I claim my own, I have hereto in the presence of two the foregoing as 'afiixed my signature witnesses. 1
