To all whom 11!. may] concern Be it known that l, MICHAEL SAUTTEP. a citizen ol the United States, residing at okane, in the county oi Spokane and State ll ashington, have invented certain new L 1d useful lmprovements in l l usking Mitte 0; which the following is a specification.

The object of this invention is to provide a light, ine aensive and comfortable mitten b 'i the use a which an ear of corn from which the husk is to be removed may be securely held. The invention seeks to provide rted purpose which may rea ily s cured in position upon the hand and which will be flexible so as to conform to the movement of the hand in operation and at the same time be durable, and the invention seeks also to provide a device which will protect the wrist ot the user and which will not permit the "fastening devices to assume a position in which it Will be diliicult to bring them into proper relation to secure the mitten in place. The invention is illustrated. in the accompanying drawing and consists in certain novel 'teatures which will be particularly pointed out in the appended claims.

in carrying out my invention, 1 employ a lining or backing ply l which, as shown clearly in Fig. 3, is -formed in two members or blanks, one oi. which constitutes the back of the mitten and the other forms a palm portion. This lining or backing member is also constructed with. tongues or extensions, indicated at 2, which constitute, when brought into proper relation, a pocket tor the thumb. Over the palm portion of the backing or lining member 1, I place a facing 3 of leather which extends over the entire palm portion oi the mitten and has an ex tension or tongue a which covers the inner side of the thumb pocket or stall. the outer side oil? the backing ply, I place along the edge thereof a reinforcing or bind ing strip a of leather and through the said reinforcing or binding strip, both sections or members ot the lining, and the edge of the palm laciug 3 l insert tubular rivets 5, the

Near the outer end of the mitten, I provide hooks 8 which are disposed in a line across the mitten, as clearly shown in Fig. 2, and have their prongs or beaks directed toward the inner end or wrist of the mitten so that they will engage in the corn husk and firmly hold the same and at the tip of the thumb I secure upon the inner side thereof a hook 9 of the same :torm as the hooks 8 so that when the mitten is in use a firm grip upon the corn will be obtained.

Around the inner or lower end of the mitten over the lining or backing member 1 and over the outer side of the facing 3 I secure a wrist band 10 of leather, the said wrist band being secured to the mitten by rivets 11 and presenting a free end portion 12, as shown in Fig. l, at the back of the wrist and upon the outer side or which I secure buckles 13. Slots 14 are provided adjacent the buckles and upon the wrist band on the palm side of the same and below the base of the thumb stall or pocket 2. The mitten is obviously simple and cheap and will be found highly efficient when in use.

Having thus described the invention, What is clain'ied as new is:

l. A husking mitten comprising a textile base, a reinforcing strip disposed upon the back ot said base alon the edges thereof, :i facing; member corerin the palm, portion of said base. the ed oi? the base being disposed between the reinforcing strip and the racing; headed Fastening devices inserted tl'irough the said base and the palm facing. and other heeded fastening devices inserted throug the reii'lforcing strip.

2. A mitten comprising a textile base. (tOITlpOSCd of palm member and a back member; a iwar-resisting facing covering the entire outer face ot the palm niei'nhcr, a reinforcing strip disposed upon the back member along the edge thereof. and taste/1r ings inserted through said strip the palm and back members of the base and the lam and upset against the facing.
