INVENTOR ATTORNEY WITNESS:

Speeication of Letters Patent.
Patented July 18, 1922.
Application tiled October 8, 1921.y Serial No.Y 506,425.
T o all whom t may concern Be it known that I, ll/lnrii-Inw GLAss, a citizen of the United States, residing at Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented new and useful improvements in. Holders, of which the following is a specification.
v This invention relates to improvements iny holders.
An obj ect ot the invention is to provide a strong and durable device embodying' novel features of construction whereby a movable j aw and a stationary aw are adapted to receive a cloth or wad of paper serving as a mop for cleaning purposes and retainthev same in adjusted position.
Another object is to provide a simple and elticient device which is formed 'trom two strands of galvanized wire and can be manufactured at. a very low cost. y
Vith the above and other objects in view, the invention consists in certain novel teatures of construction, combination and arrangement ot parts, as will be more 'fully described and particularly pointed out in the" appended claims. v
` In the accompanyingdrawings,
Figure 1 is a perspective view of the invention. I
Figure 2 is a perspective view of the stationary member. n i
Referring` now to the drawings, in which like characters ot' reference designate corresponding parts throughout the several views, the numeral 10 designates a movable member which is Jtermed from one strand of wire and comprises a substantially tcl-shaped j aw 11 which extends at right angles 'from a pair of parallel arms 12 and 13. A relatively short shank 111 disposed in a plane parallel to the arms 12 and 13 and terminating` in a handle 15 extends at right angles from an elbow 16 extending at right anales y `trom one end of the arm 12.` in elbow 17in alignment with the elbow 16 extends at right angles from the arm 13 and is bent aroundV the adjacent end of the shank 1l,
A stationary member| 18 is 'formed from the second strand of wire and comprises a substantially U-shaped aw 19 which is parallel to the jaw 11.
The parallel sides of the jaw 19 are bent upon themselves to yprovide spaced guide eyes 2O and 21 which receive the parallel arms 12 and 13 respectively, of the movable member. A relatively 'long shank 22 is disposed in a plane at right angles to the j aw 19 and extends at right angles from an elbow 23 which is `disposed in a plane parallel to y the elbow 16 and extends inwardly from the eye 20. An elbow 2l extends inwardly from the eye 21 and is bent around the adjacent vend of the shank 2Q. A handle 25 is Jformed "ting the cloth or wad of paper to be removed.
`While it is believedt-hat 'from thefgioregoing` description the naturek and yadvantages ot the invention vwill be Vreadily apparent, l desire to have it Aunderstood that I do not limit myself to what is herein shown and*k described, and thatsuch changes may be resorted to when desired as tall within the rscope et what is claimed.
1What lI claim is: 1. A device ot the class described comprising; a stationary i aw provided with spaced guide eyes and a shank disposed in aplane aty right anales to said j aw and provided with a guide loop, a handle extending from said shank, a movable 3aw parallel to said stationary jaw, parallel arms extending atr right angles from said movable jaw and extending through the guide eyes of said stationary jaw, a shanky connected to said parallel arms disposed in a plane parallel with said arms and extending` through the guide loop ot the i'irst mentioned shank, and' a handle extending' from the last mentioned shank and disposed in a plane parallel to the handle'aforesaid. y I
2. A` device of the class described comprising a substantially lil-shapedstationary jaw provided with spaced Vguide eyes, elbows extending` inwardly from said eyes, a relatively long shank extending from one of g said stationary jaw, arms extending at right angles fromrsaid movable aw and extending through said guide eyes, elbows extending inwardly from said arms, a relatively short shank. extending from one of the last mentioned elbows and extending through said guide loop and ahandle extending from the 10 last mentioned shank.
In testimony whereof I aHiX my signature.
MATTHEW GLASS.
