MOR-RIS GOLDBERG, OF BROOKLYN, NEW YORK.
ATTACHMENT FOR NECKSCARFS.
Specification of Letters Patent. Patented July 11, 1922.
Application le'd November 6, 1918. Serial No.A 261,381.
To all whom z't may concern:
Be it known that I, MORRIS Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Attachments for Neck' which will include a neck encircling'band or tape adaptedvto .be soconnected with a previouslyl knotted and tied scarf asto -render thesa'me applicableto the collar 'at any time without the necessity'of re.tying thesame after each use and thereby minimizev wear and tear thereonr while simplifying and expediting -a'n adjustment of the scarf to or removal'thereof .fromthe collar. i
` VAnother object of the invention' is to provide an *atta'chm'e'nt of the "specified'type which will be adjustable to ordinary formsgf lof scarfs -without requiringphanges'in the 25 f. vA lstilll furtherA objectA of the invention is v to y'provide a scarf attachment which -will vconsist of anadjustable elastic tape adapted f for"conn'e'ctior'i With'the scarf respectively at :the opposite sidesof theknot, the elasticity iL -of' the tape serving tao-always maintain 'the `construction thereof;
knot of the tie in proper positionwith respect to the .open ends ofthe collar.
, Figure-l is a front view of ascarf showing my improved` attachment applied thereto. Figure 2 is afrearLview of the scarf. 1
In'carrying the invention into practice,.
use. canbe made' o fany" four-in-hand scarf such as the one shown at'- and 1n vpractice the l scarf is folded from .a point Aapproximately at the center of theneck band there-' of so as to form a loop?? at one side ofthe knot 6. An voval shaped'loop member v7 is associated with the loop 7, of the` tie andl is band 8 to said loop "7 vas shown in Figure l.
The band 8 is preferably formed of elastictape and it is folded upon itself at one end .to produce an adjustable loop 9, the bight GoLnnERG, a citizen of the United States, residmg at' 'signa-ture.
of which is associated with -the loop member 7. The loop portion 9 `of the elasticv bandor tape 8 is formed byextending one of the leads of the tape through an adjusting and retaining member 10. In this manner it will be observed that any desired adjustment of the band or tape can be secured to properly cause the same to fit the neck of vthe wearer. 1
The-free end `of the tape is provided with a hook l1. At the rear 'side of the knot 6,-
of the Scarf is a detachable :pin 12 which is designed to be engaged by the hook 11 when the scarf`v is vadjustedto the collar.- Under the inherent quality of the tape the knot will be uniformly held between the meeting sends ofthecollar. :The tape 8 throughthe manner'of connecting the same lwith the scarf is never visible when in use upon the collar. y The design of the structure is such `that .thefscarf caribe tied to' the `form detsiredfor use' and the extension 7 perma nentlyjarrangedatzone lside thereof With-my impreved attachment operatively applied --thereto described. This' entirely eliminates the necessity ofretying'thescarf after eachusetliereof and consequently minimizes @the .wear and'tearthereonwhile greatly facilitatingthe application ofthe 'scarf to or removal of the same from thegoollan vWhatfis claimed as new is f l1.-.Incomlo'nation, a tie folded upon itselfv and kriotted'toprovide'aknot and a loop extending `from one 'side` ofthe knot, tape having one yend secured' to the loop and means includin'g` a removablev member secured to the knot for detachable connection with the opposite end of the tape. I
2. In'combinationj, a tie folded upon itselfV and -knotted to provide a knot. and a loop eX- -tending from 'one side of the knot, a'tape .having one end connected.tothe loop,a.hook .carried by the. opposite end of the tape and 'a loop-shaped pin removably engaged witha'daptedto act asa' means for connecting the I MoRRrs GOLDBERG;
