To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, HAnoLD S. GoonING, a citizen of the United States, residing at Medtord, in the county of Middlesex and State of Massachusetts, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Caps of which the following is a specification.

The object of my invention is to provide a cap essentially adapted for golfers in which a score card or other memoranda may be conveniently carried.

The invention can best be seen and understood by reference to the drawings in which Fig. 1 is a plan showing the interior of a cap fitted with the improvement comprising my invention.

Fig. 2 is a cross section of the cap.

Referring'to the drawings 1 represents a cap of ordinary type.

Located within the crown of the cap and attached thereto is a pocket 2, the open end of which is closed by a flap 3 which is held in place by a releasable fastening device 4.

The pocket is preferably formed within the lining with which the cap is customarily provided. In providing for the pocket the lining comprises two sectional parts or pieces, 5 and 6, respectively. Beneath the piece is placed a piece of material 7 which is secured to the piece 5 by stitches S and forms the inner face of the pocket the portion 9 of the piece 5 forming the outer face of the pocket.

The inner piece 7 is provided with an extension which forms the flap 3 that laps over the portion 9 of the lining and closes the open end of the pocket as above described.

The part 6 of the lining is secured by stitches 10 to the under side of the inner piece 7 along the base edge of the flap 3 and also to piece 5 on opposite sides of the open end oi the pocket.

The term cap as used herein and in the claim is used in a sense sufficiently compre hensive to include hats or any other type of: headgear to which the invention may be applicable.

Having thus fully described in T invention I claim and desire to secure by lzetters Patent of the United States The combination in a cap, of a lining for the cap, said lining comprising separate sectional parts a piece placed between said sectional parts of said lining, means for stitching said piece to the one sectional part of said lining whereby said piece and said sectional part of the lining may co-operate with one another to form a pocket presenting an open end, said piece having an extension forming a flap closing said open end 01" the pocket a releasable fastener for holding the flap in place, and means for securing the other sectional part of said lining to said piece along the base edge of said flap and also to the said one sectional part of the lining on opposite sides of the open end of said pocket.
