To all whom it may concer/rt:
Be it known that we, ROBERT H. Kun and WHITNEY K. MUNsoN, citizens of the United States, residing at Los Angeles, inthe county of Los Angeles and State of California, have invented new and luseful Improvements in Resilient Stamp Pads, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to stamp inking pads, and has for its object the provision of a pad containing an ink reservoir so as to automatically ink the pad` of the device.
It is a further object of the invention to.
provide an ink pad in which the container is formed of resilient material so as not to mar furniture or the like upon which it is placed,

The invention will be readily understood from the following description of the ac companying drawings, in which:

The inking pad includes a container in the form of a base and formed of suitable resilient material, such as rubber. This base, which is shown at 1, is provided at its under surface with depressions, a plurality of which are shown at 2 as a series of circumferentially spaced de ressions forming ribs 2n between the same. y this construction it will be noted that the device may be placed upon a desk or the likewithout dan er of marring the surface of the same,an that the depressions 2 will form air pockets for cushioning the device when struck stamp to be inked. l
The upper surface of the base is provided with a central depression 3 in which is received a suitable absorbent material 4 impregnated with ink so as to form a reservoir. A larger depression 5 extends around and -fiange, and that when the inkin by a above depression 3, and atthe periphery of said depression the resilient base forms an annular resilient fiange 6. An inking pad 7, of suitable absorbent material, is received in depression 5 with its periphery received in the annular groove 8 formed beneath flange 6. It will be noted lthat pad 7 rests upon the` ink impregnated pad 4 so as to be supplied with ink therefrom by capillary attraction. Automatic inking of the pad is thus accomplished.
It will be noted that the provision of resilient retaining flange 6 permits of the ready insertion of pad 74 by stretchin the a has been positioned, the resiliency o ange 6 will positively retain the same in position.

1. A device of thevcharacter described' comprising a base, a recess in the upper surface to receive a pad, a second recess in the base of the first recess forming a reservoir, depressions in the bottom of said base, said depressions increasing in depth as radial spacing is increased.

A stamp pad comprising a base of resilient material having recesses formed in its under side, an annularliange formed on top of said pad, which fiange is substantially of inverted L-shape in cross section, and an absorbent member arranged within said flange with its edge positioned beneath the horizontal portion of said liange.-
3.
