PATENT QFFICE.
AUGUST ANDERSON, or INDEPENDENCE, KANSAS.
ECCEN'IRIC LEVER.
Application filed. March 11, 1921.
To all whom it may concern: Be it known that I, AUGUST ANDERSON, of Independence, Montgomery County, and State of Kansas, have invented an Improvement in Eccentric Levers, of which the following is a specification.
In the drawings Figure 1 and 2 represent side views of my invention showing the lever locked in position in Figure 1 and disengaged in Figure 2.
Fig. 3 is a plan view of the eccentric collar, holder and latch.
Fig. 1 is the eccentric collar side view.
Fig. 5 is a plan View of eccentric collar.
Similar figures of reference indicate correspondin parts. I
The 0 ject of my invention is to furnish an improved device for adjusting and looking parts of heavy machinery doors, windows and transoms in position desired with greater case than by the devices at present in use.
My invention consists of a notched lever extending through a slot in a rotating collar, the rotating collar being held in place by an extending arm and latch attached thereto.
In the drawing, 1 represents the lever with a suitable handle at one end. 2 is a rotatin collar. This rotating collar 2 may be cast 1n two parts and fastened together by any ordinary screws or bolts if desired.
7 represents the timber or part to which it is desired to secure the lever. j
4 is an extending arm designed to carry the rotating collar 2.
9 is the latch secured in position on the extending arm 4: so that when the lever 1 and rotating collar-2 are turned one way or the other that the projecting notched part Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented June 2'7, 1922.
Serial No. 451,567.
6 of the lever 1 will clear the latch 6, and then lever 1 and rotating collar 2 are turned back in position latch 3 will hold the lever 1 from going forward or backward by fitting into one of the projecting notches 6.
5 is a holding block secured in position by any ordinary bolt and is designed to secure rotating collar 2 in position.
The lever 1 is operated by rotating this lever on its axis so as to rotate the eccentric collar 2, this throwing lever 1 to one side and disengaging the notched portion from the latch 3, then sliding the lever 1 forward or backward to the position desired, then reversing the partial rotation so that the notches 6 will reengage the latch 3.
Having described my invention what I claim is:
1. The combination of a notched sliding lever with an eccentric rotating collar as a guide, an extending arm designed to engage the eccentric rotating collar, a latch designed p0 engage the notches in the notched sliding ever.
2. In a lever ratchetthe combination of a lever having a part thereof notched, a latch designed to engage the notches in the lever an eccentric rotating collar having an aperture through it to one side of the center thereof designed as a guide for the lever to slide in, an extending arm designed to secure the eccentric rotating collar and means of securing the eccentric rotating collar in the extending arm.
AUGUST ANDERSON.
