To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that l, DAVID FnonHricH, a citizen of the United States, andi resident of the vcity of New York, borough of Brooklyn,` in the ,county of Kings and State of lNew York, have invented a new and Tm-l proved Awning Box, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description# My inventionrelates to an awning box, and aims to vprovide certain new and useful improvements in devices of this character.

lt is well appreciated,vthat it `is quite a common expedient to provide what is known as a key which co-operatesA with an awning box to permit of the movement of the parts within the same when the hand crank is applied thereto.

This has been necessary, incident to the fact that the awning was liable to become' unrolled, aside from the fact that this lock serves to prevent unauthorized persons from actuating the mechanism.

This. type of boxhas presented certain defects, however, in that the key provided for unlocking the parts has quite often turned upon an actuation of the `crank so that it has been necessary toA stop this operation and readjust the key to again effect an unlocking of the parts.

lNith this objection in mind, I have constructed an awningbox, which shall utilize a key, insuring a positive unlocking Aof the parts, until the key is withdrawn, aside from the fact that the construction of the box and locking mechanism as a whole, is greatly. j simplified.

A further object of my invention is the provision of means which will serve toguard the entry of any foreign substances,

against wilfully or accidentally introduced into the box.

Further objects of my invention will appear in the annexed specification and drawings, which latter present one practical embodiment of invention, and in which;
