f vilin IlHill Z6/f w 6711 Ucfnro'o /I/afan Samia is a vertical flange i3 which extends into close proximity to the paper, and a forwardly' and downwardly inclined flange 24. This bar is pivotally mounted on the shelf 20, being 'fixed on a rod 25 which extends therealong in the apex of the two flanges and is journaled at its ends in lugs Q6 on the shelf. The flange 24 is pressed against the paper by means of a pair of tension springs 2.7 located at opposite ends of the flange and connected respectively at opposite ends 'to the shelf E20 and to this flange 24. il knob 2S is provided on the bar to permit of its being swung clear of thc paper when it is desired to pull the paper forward, the front edge of the shelf being preferably sharpened to a knife edge so as to permit of easy severing of the used end of the paper by press ing it downwardly over this knife edge.
Having thus described my invention what l claim as new and desire to protect by Letters Patent of the United States is as follows:
1. ln a device of the character described, the combination with a support comprising a cylindrical box, the top wall of which is formed by a hinged cover section, said cover section being longitudinally slotted in alinement with the upper surface of said support, and means for supporting a roll of paper in the container, said means including a mandrel having a reduced end engaging in an opening in one end of the cylindrical box, the opposite end of said mandrel being formed with a socket, a screw threaded into an aperture in the adjacent end of the cylindrical box, and a pin on said screw projecting into the said socket, said last mentioned opening being large enough to permit of insertion of the mandrel therethrough.
i2. A sanitary paper container and support comprising a supporting member having a spacing bar on one longitudinal edge, a housing carried by said spacing bar, a cover for said housing, said cover being provided with a longitudinal slot substantially in alignment with the upper face of the supporting member, means for clamping' said cover in closed position, a paper roll supporting member adapted to be inserted and removed from one end of said housing, a closure member for said end of the housing carrying a support for one end of the paper roll carrying member, a shelf secured upon the opposite longitudinal edge of said supporting member to receive paper drawn through the slot of the housing and across said supporting member, and means for resiliently retaining the paper upon the supporting shelf.
In testimony whereof I have affixed my signature.
