CYMBAL HOLDER.
Toni/'Z fie/wm #may concern:
"Be it known thatl, Fimo Sriiaierii, a citizen of the United States, residing at Bristol, in the county of Bristol and State oi Rhode Island, have invented a new and useful Cymbal Holder7 oil" which the followinU is a speciiication.` 3. e
slhis invention relatesto cymbal holders.
The general object of the invention isto improvise a cymbal holder which may be used for supporting` all types of cymbals int any desired position upon a drum.
Another object of the invention is ,to` provide a holder for cymbals so constructed that the cymbals may be supported in a large 'ariety of positions. y y
The deviceI ofthe present invention may cymbals.
The invention will be best understood from a. consideration oit the following detailed description taken in connectionwith the accompanying drawings toi-ming part of this specification, with the understanding,
however, `that the` invention is not confined to any strict yconformity with the showing in the diawing7 but may be changed and modified so long as such changes and modiications mark no material departure from the salient fea-tures of the invention as eX- pressed in the appended claims.
Inthe drawing. i
Fig. l is a perspective View of a portion of a drum with the holder secured in, one position thereto and supporting a cymbal above the drum. f i
Fig. 2 is a similar view showing the cymbal supported at the side of the drum.
Fig. 3 is a similar view showing a third position of the cymbal.
Fig. 4i is a like view showing the holder adapted to receive a floor or beater cymbal.
Fig. 5 is an elevation showing the improved holder per se. y
Infthe drawing. the letter 'D designates a drum, and Hthe hoop thereof, while` C denotes the cymbal. The device of the present invention is adapted to be clamped upon the hoop H at any desired point of its circumference. i
The holder includes a. bar 6 having a slot 7 extending from an intermediate point substantially to one end thereof. At the opposite end of the bar an arm 8 projects at right angles and carries an ear 9 extending paralpedal, crash, street or concertk e `Specification of Lettersflatent; Pgrtnted lway 16, 1922 Application led December 18, 1920. Serial No. 431,534. i ,4 y
lel to the bar G. The ear 9 has one or more screw-tlirea iled perforations"adapted to receive thumb screws ll. Also' projecting from the bar .Gon the salme sidev thereof as the arm 8 is an ear 10 which extends at right angles to the bar or parallel to arm 8. The ear l0 is bored in a manner similar to the ear 9 so that the thumb screws l1 may be passed through either ear to `engage with the hoop of the drum. f
The slot 7 receives, a bolt i3; secured to one end of a flat spring l2. Thisbolt is slidable in the slot so that the spring' l2 is. adjustable along the bar 6. A wing nut l5 is provided on the bolt 13, and washers 14 are likewise mounted on said bolt so that theV` flat spring 12v may be clamped in an ad- `iusted position upon the bar. Usually/i.one' of the washers will be on each side ofl the bar when the spring is clamped. y
` The opposite end of the spring l2 has a bolt 1G secured thereto,v which bolty mounts a metal washer 17 and a pairroi` non-metallic washers 18'. A wing` nut .i9 vmakes it pos-- sible for the cymbal to be clampedbetween the two washers 18 so that the cymbal extends substantially at right angles to the longitudinal axis of the spring l2.` Preferably the washer 18 adjacent the metallic washer 17 is unitedthei'eto to eliminate as far as possible the chance of losing `the washers.
Ifit is desired to clamp the cymbal directly upon the bar G, as when mounting a floor or beater cymbal on the drum, the arrangement will bc that depicted in `Fig. 4i. lflere a thumb screw 2() is shown passing through the slot 7 with a washer 22 provided at its extremity and `a second washer 2l on the opposite side of the bar 6. lith the aid of a nut it will be an easy matter to clampvthe cymbal in an adjusted position along the bar 6. i
The device oit the present invention, as is clearly shown in the drawings, permits the holding of a cymbal in almost any position relativeto a drum. It is adaptable` to all 4types of cymbals, and because et this vibrations ot the same are cheeked. The 'liet Spring has been tonnel to permit the required vibration.
Yi/'hat is claimed is l. A cymbal holder including a bar, a longitudinal slot in said bar, an eer 'liest to the bar at one end thereof and extending;1 et right angles to the bar, a second eer parall/el to the bar amil spaced from the lirst ear on the same side olf the ber as the lirst ear, and means receiveifi Within Said slot for detachably clamping a cymbal to the bur, said. ears being adapted to clamp Jthe l ir lo a drum in :i plurality el different positions.
A cymbal. holder .includingv n bnr, a longitudinal slot in said bar. an ear tast to the hir et one end thereotl and extending' et rigijht angles to the bar, a second ear parallel to the har and spaced Yfrom the ear on the seme side olf the bei' as the lirst ear, a spring a fljustnblymounted on said bar, means received within the slet `lor clamping one end o'lt the Spring to the bar, :nul means on the opposite enrl oi the siliring; to clamp a cymbal thereto.
3. A cymbal holder comprisinga a straight bar, :11n ear projecting at ri ght angles to the bar at one end thereof, an arm projet-ting,r from the suine sille of the bar as said ear nml parallel thereto, a. eeconcl ear carried by the arm nt its outer endV and extending parallel to the bar in a direction away from the lirst ear, both ears having screw-threaded bores whereby thumb screws may be passed through each ear to clamp the bar upon the hoop ot a drum, a slot provided in said bar and extending' For the greater part of the length thereo't anil to the end remote from the :Erstmal-meel ear, a bolt received in said slot, a lat springl united to saicl bolt and held thereby in a position at right angles to the bar, and cymbal clamping means carried upon the extremity oit the spring; whereby a cymbal may be clamped in a position to lie parallel to the bar.
4. A cyn'ibal holder comprising a rigid bar, means at one end ot said bar 'lor conmeeting` a cymbal thereto, :rnd eel'iarate means at the other enel ol said bar 'for 'ltsteningr 'the latter to a drum in a plurality oli rli'll'erent positions with the oar in either a horizontal or vertical position.
5. A cymbal holder comprising); a rigid bar, means carried thereby lor ooimeeting' a cymbal thereto, and a air oi ars at one end oil' said bar and located at right angles to each other, saifl earsl having` eeiriarate litening` means, whereby they may be Semin-ell to the drum with the bnr in a plurality ot l ilierent posi tions.
(5. A cymbal holrler comprisingT a bar. means ior mounting; the saine in position, a hat spring mounted et one cnil on the har and projecting therefrom, :unl means :it the other end ot the spring' 'for connecting; a cymbal thereto, `whereby the spring is 'lree to vibrate.
ln testimony that I claim the 'lorep'oin,gr as my own, I have hereto aflixecl my signaN ture.
