State of.. California, haveinventeda new and use` ful Improvement inToys, of which the fol'- lowing is a specification.
My invention relates to toys and comprises the novel combination and arrangement of parts shown in the drawing and described in the annexed specification.
Referring to the drawing which is for illustrative purposes only,
Fig. l shows one form of my toy as arranged for traction operation.
Fig. 2 represents a plan view thereof. y
Fig. 3 represents a portion of the same toy removed fora hand operation.
Fig. 4 is another view of sainev on a larger scale.
Myinvention comprises a handle 11 which may be formed of wood and to which a guideway 12 is secured. This guideway in the form shown is a single wire having a loop 13 at the top thereof. Mounted on the wire 12 is an object 14 which may be preferably of a small Celluloid doll. Secured to the handle 11 is a spring member 15 which is bent in the form of a loop having its ends secured to the handle, the branches of this loop extending on either side of the wire 12 projecting into a position to be engaged by the thumb 16 of a hand 17 grasping the handle 11. A wooden ball 18 is also placed on the wire 12 between the object 14 and the spring 15. When operated by hand, the spring. 15 is snapped by the thumb 16; thus snapping the ball 18 and the object 14 upwardly. Object 14 is prevented from leaving the w1re'12 by the 4loop 13. y v
The toy may be operated in the manners shown in Figs. 3 and 4 or it may be mounted to be operated by the wheels 20 o-f the device shown in Figs. 1 and 2. In the latter case a frame 21 is provided with the handle 22, this frame having bearings 23 formed there# on in which an axle 24 turns. vTurning with they axle 24 are the wheels 20 either or both of which may be secured tothe axle 24. Secured to the center of the axle 24 is a pawl 26 which is so placed that it strikes upon the spring 15, the handle 11 being secured in a bracket 27 forming a part of the frame .21. If a child pushes the device shown in Figs. 1 and 2 along the floor, the pawl 26 presses down on the spring 15 and then releases it,
