To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, Burns G. SMITH, a citizen of the United States of America, and a resident of Huntington, county of Cabell, and State of West Virginia, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Necktie-Display Stands, of which the following is a full and clear specification.

The object of this invention is to provide a simple apparatus for use on a retail store counter for attractively displaying neck scarfs, the mechanism being such that the scarfs are readily removable for closer inspection, as more fully hereinafter set forth.

In the drawing Fig. 1 is a view partly in side elevation and partly in vertical section of an apparatus embodying my invention;

Figs. 2, 3 and 1 are views of details hereinafter described.

Referring to the drawing by referencecharacters, 5 designates a cylindrical standard on which is rotatably mounted a wheel consisting of a hub 6, spokes 7 and a ringlike band 8, the hub 6 resting upon a collar 9 secured adjustably to the standard 5 by means of a set-screw.

Mounted upon the annular band 8 is a series of scarf-clamps equally spaced around the band and each being constructed as follows: Projecting from the face of the band is a frame consisting of a pair of radial blades or arms 10 connected together at their outer ends by a face-plate 11. This frame is desirably made of a single piece of sheetmetal bent into U-form. On the front side of the face-plate 11 a series of lugs 12 is struck up for the purpose of removably holding a price-card 13. Slidably mounted on the bars 10 is a clamp-plate 1 1, this plate being provided with a vertical slot 15 at each end, through which one of the bars 10 passes, to thereby slidably support the clamp-plate upon said bars 10. tached to the clamp-bar midway its length and is extended through a hole in the band 8. A pa1r of extensible coil-springs 17 is arranged within the frame 10l1, one at each side of guide-rod 16, to force the clamp plate outwardly toward the face-plate 11. The necktie as shown in Fig. a, in a folded condition, is clamped between the clamp 1 1 and the face-plate 11.

It will be observed that my device is so constructed that it may be produced in quant ty at a low cost, and, further, that the neckties may be readily inserted in the clamps and as readily removed therefrom. It will be noted also that the neckties are held in such manner that they will not be creased or mussed up by the clamping devices. In

placing the ties in the clamps, the clamp plate is inserted up between the plates 14: and 11. It will be readily seen, therefore, that the ties may be quickly inserted and removed and that when they are in the rack they will be distinctively and attractively displayed.

The nature and scope of the invention having been thus indicated and its preferred embodiment having been specifically described, what is claimed as new is:

In a necktie display-stand, a rotary wheel carrying on the outer face of its rim a series of necktie-clamps each embodying a rigid U-shaped frame projecting from the face of the wheel, a clamp-plate provided with a hole at each end through which the sidebars of said Ll-shaped frame pass, springmeans for pressing said slidable clamp-plate toward the outer cross-bar of the U-shaped frame, and a guide-rod connected to said slidableclamp-plate and extending inwardly through a hole in the wheel, for the purpose set forth.
