IMPROVEMENT IN CURTAIN-FASTENERS.

Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 14 1,313; dated July 29, 1873; application filed March 28, 1873.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, JOHN F. A. BLAT'IER- LEIN, of West Meriden, in the county of New Haven and State of Connecticut, have invented a new and Improved Curtain-Fastener and 1 do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable those skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing forming part of this specification, in which drawing- Figure 1 represents a front view of this invention, showing its application to a shade or curtain. Fig. 2 is a detached front view of the fastener on a larger scale than the previous figure. Fig. 3 is a sectional side view of the same. Fig. 4 is a "ertical section of the same.

This invention consists in the arrangement of an eccentric button on the frame or casing of a window beyond the edges of the curtain, in such a manner that, by turning the button in the proper direction, the edge of the curtain is firmly clamped against the frame or casing of the window, and the rays of the sun are efi'ectually excluded 5 and by turning the button back the curtain is released and allowed to rise or fall without obstruction.

the inner edge of which is cam-shaped, as-

shown in Figs. 3 and 4, so that when said disk is secured to the frame or casing of a awindow, and the lever A is turned in the proper direction, the cam-shaped edge of the disk I) depresses the same upon the surface of the frame or casin g.

My button is fastened on the frame or casing of a window, one or more on each side, so as to allow the curtain to pass down between them, as shown in Fig. 1, and if the curtain is lowered its edges can be firmly clamped against the face of the frame or casing, and the rays of the sun can be effectually excluded; or the curtain can be held firmly in position, so that when the window behind it is opened said curtain will not be blown about by the Wind.

What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, ,is

The arrangement of an eccentric button on the frame or casing of a window beyond the edges of the curtain, attached to said window,
