MOSES P. COMEAU' AND ALVAH A. FREDETTE, 0F C I-II COPEE FALLS, MASSACHUSETTS.
COMBINED WINDOW- SHADE BRACKET AND CURTAIN-POLE-SUPPORTIN'G DEVICE.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that Mosns P. column and ALvAH A. F REDETTE, citizens of the United States of America, residing at Chicopee Falls, in the county of Hampden and State of Massachusetts, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Combined lVindow-Shade Bracket and Curtain-Pole- Supporting Devices, of which the follow-- ing is a specification. V
This invention relates to improvements in combined window shade bracket and curtain pole supporting devices and its leading object is to provide a device of this character wherein the bracket for the shade will be adjustable on a base and the curtain pole supporting arm can be secured in either of two positions so that a single base may be used for either side of the window frame and the pole supporting arm will be locked against rotation and accidental displacement from the base and be capable of easy assembling with the base. j
With the above and other objects in view this invention relates to certain new and useful constructions, combinations and arrangement of parts, clearly described in the following specification and fully illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which:
Fig. 1 is a front elevation of our improved device.
Fig. 2 is a detail sectional view.
Fig. 8 is a side elevation of a modified form of the base.
Referring to the accompanying drawings 5 designates a metal base which is formed to provide a longitudinally extending U shaped track 6 the side wall of which is formed with a longitudinal slot 7 On this track 6 the shade supporting bracket 8 is adjustable, said bracket having pendant flanges 8 and 8 to engage the side walls of the track 6 and being adjustably secured in place by a screw 9 which projects through the base of the bracket and through the slot 7. The screw 9 is clamped in position by means of a nut 10. The bracket 8 is preferably formed to provide a bearing 11 which is outwardly offset from the lower bearing Specification of Letters Patent;

the angular lower end 16 of the pole supporting arms 16 is extended for insertion in either one of the sockets. In Figure 3 one of the sockets 14 is located on the opposite end of the base and an extra hole 17 is provided in the track '6 in similar relation to the socket 14:.
The edge of the hole 15 engages the arm 16 to absolutely prevent downward movement of said arm when the angular lower portion of the arm is held against movement by'being retained between the base and the woodwork to which it is secured in the usual manner as by screws 18. This connection also prevents the arm from turning or being lifted from the base 5.
By means of the construction shown a single base design may be used for either side of the window frame and by slightly altering the construction of the terminal portion of the pole supporting arm said arm may be reversed with respect to the base so as to alter the height or elevation at which the curtain is supported.
Having described our invention we claim:
1. A combined shade bracket and curtainv pole arm device consisting of a base having a longitudinal track formed with a slot extending longitudinally thereof, a bracket adjustably secured in said slot, said base having a socket formed in the side thereof and an opening formed in the track adjacent said socket and a pole supporting arm extended through said opening and having an angular lower end disposed in said socket.
2. A device for curtain fixtures consisting of a base having means for securing a shade bracket thereon, said base having an offset portion provided with an opening and a socket on either side of said opening, and a curtain pole supporting arm having the lower end portion insertable in said opening and either of said sockets.
3. In combination a base having a longitudinal outwardly offset portion, a bracket attachable to said portion, said base having;
a transverse opening located in the central v portion of said outwardly ofi'set portion, said base having aside flange provided with 1 having m; m mvm
