clear, and exact description.
This invention relates to detergents, and has reference more particularly to a cleansing composition Whose main constituent is ground grain.
An object of this invention is to provide a detergent for cleansing the hands or body which will have a high efficiency, will be cheap to manufacture, and will leave the skin soft and in good condition.
Another object of this invention is to provide a detergent which may be used in hot or cold, hard or soft water.
I have found that when corn meal, which is very inexpensive, is combined with a soap powder or other cleansing agent, that a very effective detergent is thus obtained which is especially useful as a cleansing agent for the hands when same become very dirty, but may also be used for other cleansing purposes.
The composition consists substantially as follows:
Powdered boracic acid or borax 1% or less.
The above ingredients may be mixed in- Application filed march 16, 1920. Serial No. 366,394.
timately in any order by some mechanical means, and the detergent is then ready for use in the usual manner. I do not Wish tov limit myself to exactly the above proportions, since they may be varied over wide ranges with more or less successful results.
When the above detergent is used for cleansing the hands, it is not only harmless, but is actually beneficial since it removes the dirt most effectually and leaves the skin softened and-in good condition. While it is not essential to use the boracic acid or borax, it is desirable, since it acts as a preservative for the corn meal to prevent molding and also acts "as an antiseptic for the skin. Instead of the soap powder, a mixture of sodium carbonate and soap powder may be used.
I would state in conclusion that while the example described constitutes a practical embodiment of my invention, 1 do not limit myself exactly to the details herein described since manifestly the same can be considerably varied Without departure from the spirit of the invention as defined in the appended claims.
Having thus described my invention, 1 claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent:
1. A detergent, consisting of corn meal 85 powdered soap 14%, and boracic acid 1%.
2. A detergent, consisting of corn meal 85%, a mixture of powdered soap and sodium carbonate 14%, and boracic acid 1%.
