lining is secured therein in such manner that less labor is required in making the loop and fitting the leather into it, as hereinafter more fully explained.

Figure 1 is a sectional front view, the section being taken in the line y y, Fig. 2. Fig. 2 is a cross-section taken in the line 00 w in Fig. 1. Fig. 3 shows the loop complete with its leather lining.

Similar letters of reference indicate like parts in the several figures.

The loop A is cast in one piece, and it is made with side pieces or guards at a at its upper end, which, in connection with that part of the loop, form a pocket for receiving and securing the ends of the leather lining O; and projections or teeth b b are also cast on the inside of the loop near its base, and these teeth are let into the lining to hold it tight in place in the loop. The leather is readily inserted, and when in place, is held securely by the guards at and projections b, thus making and finishing the loop in a cheap and simple manner. The buckle for the bearer-strap is secured to the loop by a rivet or screw, D, passing through the head of the loop, and the buckle-tongue is journaled on said rivet, as shown in Fig. 2.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

The loop A, cast in one piece, with guards at a, forming a pocket at the point of the loop to hold the ends of the lining, and with pro jections I) b at its lower part, substantially as and for the purpose described.
