citizen of the United States, and a resident of Sullivan, in the county of Moultrie and State of Illinois, have invented new and useful Improvements in a Crumb Tray, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to crumb trays and its object is to improve" and generally simplify the construction set forth in my copending application for crumb trays filed August 17, 1920, Serial No. 404,048.

A more specific object of the invention is to provide a crumb tray including a revoluble brush or sweeper mounted at the forward edge of the tray andaremovalole top ,forthe tray together with novel locking means for retaining'these parts assembled and which is such as to readily permit the tray to be dissembled for cleaning or other purposes. 7 V

With the preceding and other objects and advantages that may become apparent from the following disclosure, the invention consists in the novel combination of contents, constructions and arrangements of parts to be hereinafter specified, claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawing, where Figure 1 is a perspective of the crumb tray, parts being broken away,

Fig. 4 is a fragmentary perspective of the several parts of the tray disassembled.

Referring in detail to the drawing, wherein similar characters of reference designate corresponding parts throughout the several views, the numeral 5 designates a tray or scoop from one side of which a handle 6 extends. This tray or scoop is formed with, at its opposite ends and at theforwardedge thereof, a pair of arms 7 provided with vertically disposed longitudinally alined slots 8 open at their upper ends. I A revoluble brush is indicated at 9 and is disposed forwardly of the tray 5 between the arms 7 and has its shaft 10 j ournaled in the slots 8.

The flange 12 at its opposite endsisprovided withrearwardly disposed extensions 13 which overlie the arms 7. These extensions-13 are provided withopen ended slots 14L that extend'atright-angles to the slots 8 and receive the projecting ends of the shaft 10 and thereby hold the brush against vertical movement.

In order to lock the top there is provided disks 15 each of which is provided with a slot 16. Projecting laterally from each of the extensions 13 is a pin v16". The disks 15 are provided with arcuate slots 17 in which the pins 16 are engaged to f pivotally connect these disks to the extensions 13. As is shown in Fig. l, the locking disks 15 are normallypositioned with their slots 16 extending vertically. However, when it is desired to disassemble the tray these disks are rotated to. dispose their slots in parallelism withthe slots 14. It will be obvious with the disks in this position the 7 top wall 11 may be slid forwardly t0 disengage the extensions 13 from the shaft 10 and that the brush 9 may then be raised vertically from the arms 7. r g

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure and protect by Letters Patent of the United States brush, rearwardly disposed extensions car-f ried by the flange and provided with horizontally disposed slots. which receive the ends of the brush, and pivoted locking elements carried by the extensions and engaging the ends of the brush to hold the latter against lateral movement.

2. A crumb tray including a tray having forwardly extending arms provided with vertical slots open at their upper ends, arotatable brush having its ends journaled in the slots, at top wall removably positioned on the tray, a downwardly extending flange extending from the forward edge of the top of the wall and disposed forwardly of the brush, rearwardly disposed extensions cerried by the flange'and provided with horizontally disposed slots which receive the ends of the brush, and locking disks pivotally mounted on the extensions and provided with slots receiving the projecting ends of the brush, the locking disks being adapted to be swung-to a position to dispose their slots- 7 in parallelism with the slots in the extensions in order to permit the top wall to be 20 removed from the tray.
