UNITED STATES "PATENT OFFICE.
LOUIS a. PATTON, or cmcneo, rumors.
SHOWER ATTACHMENT BATHTUBS.
V Specification of Letters Patent. Patented Feb, '7, 1922 Application filed September 17, 1921. Serial No. 501,276.
attachment to bath tubs of existing types.
which will permit the engagement of an eflicient overhead shower bath.
A further object of this invention is to provide a shower attachment as specified which includes a supporting structure detachably supported from a bath tub and which adjustably supports a showering ring which is adapted to have connection with the water in the bath tub.
Other objects of the invention will appear in the following detailed description and in the accompanying drawing wherein:
Fig. 1 is a perspective view of. the improved shower attachment showing it applied.
Fig. 3 is a detail section on the line 3-3 of Fig. 1.
'Fig. 4 is a detail section through one of the clamp structures used in the shower attachment' Referring more particularly to the draw ing the improved shower attachment comprises attaching clamps 1, twoof which are provided and which clamps are similar in construction, each comprising a pair of arcuate spaced bath tub rim engaging arms 2 and 3 which engage over the rim 4 of the bath tub 5 as clearly shown in Fig. 4 of the drawing and are held clamped there against by means of set screws 6 carried by the under relatively short arm 3. Each of the clamp "structures 1 has a barrel 7 which receives therethrough a vertical supporting rod 8. The supports 8 carry an oval extensible frame 9 at their upper ends which frame consists of two telescopic members and may be supported at any desired elevation above the tub 4 by adjustment of the position of the rods 8 in the sleeves 7 Set screws 10 are provided for holding the rods 8 in adjusted positions. A shower ring 11 is provided which is tubular: and is provided with a plurality of perforations 12 to permit the Fig. 2 is a top plan of the showering ring.
showering of water therefrom. A nipple 13 1s carried by the shower ring 11 and is adapted to have connection with a flexible hose 14 which extends through a suitable guide 15 a'djustably carried by one of the rods 8 and is adapted to have detachable connection with the water inlet structure 16 of the bath tub 5. The shower ring 11 has supporting members 17 attached thereto at diametrically opposed points which supportlng members are substantially U shaped in plan and have their bight portions 18 bent transversely as clearly shown in Fig. 3 ofthe drawing for engaging over the side rods of the supporting frame 9 for supporting the ring 11 thereon in such manner as to permit movement of the shower ring 11 longitudinally of the frame to permit adjustment of the position of the showering ring relative' to the tub.
It is, of course, to be understood that the invention may be constructed in various other manners and the parts associated in different relations and, therefore, I do not desire to be limited in any manner except as set forth in the claims hereunto appended.
Having thus described my invention what I claim is: I
1. In a shower attachment for bath tubs, bath tub engaging clamps, a supporting structure adjustably carried by said clamps,
a shower ring movable longitudinally over said supporting structure, and a hose connected to said showering rin and adapted for connection with the water inlet of a bath tub.
2. In a shower attachment for bath tubs clamp structures including bath tub rim engaging arms, and sleeves carried by said arms, rods adj ustably carried by said sleeves. a supporting frame carried by the upper ends of said rods, and a showering ring supported by said frame.
3." In a shower attachment forbath tubs clampstructures including bath tub rim en- 'gagingarms, and sleeves carried by said arms, rods adjustably carried by said sleeves, a supporting frame carried by the upper ends of said rods, a showering ring, supports carried by said showering ring at diametri cally opposed points and shaped to engage said supporting frame for supporting t e showering ring thereby to permit movement of the showering ring along the supporting frame.
4. In a shower attachment for bath tubs clamp structures including bath tub rim engaging arms, and sleeves carried by said arms, rods adjustably carried by said sleeves, a supporting frame carried by the upper ends of said rods, a showering ring, support-s carried by said showerin ring at diametricall opposed points an shaped to engage saicl supporting frame for supporting the
