UNITED STATES WILLIAM C. PAPPAS, OF BERKELEY, CALII'ORNIA.'
BILLIARD-GUE TIP.
Application filed June 14,
T 0 all whom it may concern:
Be it known'that I, WILLIAM C. PAPPAS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Berkeley, in the county of Alameda and State of California, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Billiard- Cue Tips, of which the following is a specification. 7
i This invention relates to billiard cue tips and has for its object the provision of a tip which may easily and quickly be removed and a new one inserted.
Another object is to provide a tip which need not be glued to the cue, and which has no exposed metallic parts. I
Referring to the drawing which forms a part of. this specification:
Figure 1 is a side View of my improved ti higure 2 is a transverse sectional view of the same.
Figure 3 is a sectional view taken on the line 3-3-of Figure l. i
In the drawing, the numeral .1 indicates a billard cue to the end of which is secured a sleeve 2. The sleeve Q'has a groove 3 cut therein which is adapted to receive a rib 4t Specification of Letters Patent.

on the tip 5. This arrangement prevents the tip from turning. A pin 6 is secured in the rib 4L, and a hook 7 is adapted to hook over the pin 6 and thus hold the tip securely in place.
A spring 8 is positioned between the top of the sleeve 2 and the head 9 on the end of the shank of the hook 7. This gives the required tension on the hook for maintaining the tip in position and also allows the tip to be removed. The removal of the tip is accomplished by forcing the hook upward against the tension of the spring 8, whereupon the pin 6 may be removed from said hook.
Having described my invention, I claim: In combination with a cue having a sleeve, a tip having a rib adapted to-fit into a groove in said sleeve, a pin in said rib, a hook adapted to engage said pin, a head on the end of the hook shank, a spring positioned between the top ofsaid sleeve and the head of said hook whereby the tip is maintained in its position.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature.
WILLIAM c PAPPAS.
