To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, Fnnornro Ramsay, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the city of Elgin, county of Kane, and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Heel Attaclr ments, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to new and useful improvements in heel attachments and has for its object the provision of a heel attachment whereby the wearing surface of the heel may be worn uniformly on all sides.

Other objects will appear hereinafter.

The invention consists in the combinations and arrangements of parts hereinafter described and claimed.

The invention will be best understood by reference to the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification, and in which,

The approved form of construction comprises a wearing member 6 which is made circular in form. Attached to the upper surface of the member 6 by suitable fastening means 8 is a circular metallic disk 7. The heel 9 of the shoe with which my invention is applied is formed circular in cross section and has attached to it by means of nails 10 or other suitable means a disk 11 projecting upwardly from which, and adapted to seat in a recess formed in the heel of the shoe, is an interiorly threaded socket member 12. The wearing member 6 is provided with an opening 13 and the member 7 is provided with an opening 14. having beveled edges which are adapted to engage the head of a screw 14 which is threaded into the socket 12. After securing the socket bearing member to the shoe the wearing member 6 may be secured therein by means of the threaded member 14 being threaded into the member 12 so as to securely clamp the member 7 against the lower surface of the heel and the disk 11.

The wearing surface may then be rotated a sufiicient distance to present a new wearing surface at that point where the greatest wear or strain is exerted. Themember 1a is then threaded into the member 12 so as to cause the heads of the nails 10 to again engage in the recesses 15 which thereby prevent rotation of the wearing member while the same is being used.

In Fig. t I have shown my invention applied to a rubber wearing surface. When a rubber wearing surface 16 is used the metallic disk 7 and its connecting means 8 are dispensed with and a metallic plate 17 having a number of perforations 18 therein is mounted in the rubber. The member 17 is provided with a central opening 19 through which the threaded member 14 is adapted to pass. The perforations 1S allow the rubber 16 to protrude therein and thereby securel hold these members in fixed relative positlon. When the member 1a is threaded into the socket 12 the heads of the nails 10 are embedded in the rubber 16 and thereby prevent rotation of the same while being used.

While I have illustrated and described the preferred form of construction for carrying my invention into efiect, this is capable of variation and modification without departing from the spirit of the invention. I, therefore, do not wish to be limited to the precise details of construction set forth, but desire to avail myself of such variations and modifications as come within the scope of the appended claim.

Having described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:

A heel attachment comprising a socket with respect to the heel.
