IMPROVEMENT IN SHIFTING TOPS FOR BUGGIES.

My invention consists of an improved and useful device, forming a shifting or movable seat, with a false bottom, for buggies and light wagons, or other vehicles.
Letter A, in Fig. 1, represents the shifting or movable seat with false bottom a a, which is intended, as will be seen by the drawing,
for a folding-top to be attached, the fixtures c c c 0 being secured to the false bottom a a, and when the vehicle is to be used with a top the false bottom is fastened to a permanent seat, B, as shown in Fig.2, by bolts b b 12 passing through both seats, and secured by nuts d; but when it is desired to have the vehicle without a top the shifting or movable seat A is easily removed by withdrawing the bolts b b b.
By means of my invention a movable top can be applied to any open vehicle and removed with facility, while, when the top is off, the irons or fixtures c c e c necessary to secure and operate a folding-top are entirely removed, and not in the way, which is not the case, as usually constructed, where simply a folding-top to common buggies is temporarily removed.
I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent The movable or shifting seat A, having false bottom a (1 bolts 1) b b, or equivalents, in combination with permanent seat B, the whole constructed to operate substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
