TAG.
Application filed October "f, 1921.
To all whom t may concern.'
Be it known that I, CHARLES l". MrNiiorr, citizen of the United States, and resident of the city of New York, borough of Manhattan, county of New `York, and State of New York, have inventedL a new and lnlproved Tag, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
My invention relates to a tag, and aims to provide cert-ain new and useful improvements in connection with a device of this character.
In connection with the retail clothing trade and more particularly the dress department, which carry large sizes of dresses, it is a well appreciated fact that considerable difhculty has been experienced, due to the somewhat slovenly appearance which a dress of this type has upon a conventional clothes hanger.
Thus where a relatively large dress or similar article of clothing is to remain upon a hanger, the same appears to be, at irst glance, far larger than the said dress actually is. Due to this objection it. is often time impossible to induce a prospective cus tomer to try the same on, despite the fact that when this dress would be in applied position, the same would present an extremely neat appearance and would often make the figure of the wearer appear far more slender thanwas actually the case.
Thus my present invention aims to provide a device which is adapted to be associated with the garment while the same is upon the hanger, so that the dress will present a neat and slender appearance even while in this position, thus overcoming the difficulty aforementioned.
Still a further object of this invention is the construction of a device of the character stated which may be manufactured at an extremely nominal figure, and which may also serve other purposes, in addition to that afore specified, in that it .may act as a rice tag, size tag, etc.
till further objects of this invention will appear in the annexed specification, taken in connection with the drawings, which latter illustrate one practical embodiment of my invention, and in which;
Figure 1 is a front view of a garment with my improved tag associated therewith.
'Figure 2 is a rear view of the same.
Figure 3 is a sectional plan view taken Specification of Letters Patent.

along the line 3 3 and in the direction of the arrows indicated in Figure 2, and
Figure 4t is a face view of the tag.
In these' views the reference numeral 5 indicates the body of a garment of any desirable character which, as is customary, is provided with a belt 6, and is supported upon a conventional hanger 7.
As has been clearly indicated in Figure 3 however, l provide tacks 8 in the belt 6, which serve to properly retain the said belt with respect to the garment. It is to be noted in this connection that these tacks are provided at points well spaced from each other, and are in fact preferably formed adjacent the side edges of the garment so that when the tacked portions are drawn together, as in Figures 2 and 3, the back 9 of the garment will fall into folds.
Now to retain the garment in the position indicated l conveniently utilize a tag of the' construction shown in Figure 4. lt will be seen that this element includes a. body 10 having upwardly extending slits l1 in its lower edges, the said body being capable of receiving a certain printing l2 so that it may serve a double purpose. As in Figures 2 and 8 the legs or end portions of the tag, i. e. those parts of the same beyond the slit ll, are adapted t0 extend into the space extending between the belt 6 'and body 5 of the garment at points beyond the tacks 8.
Thus the parts are retained in the position indicated, and it will be seen that the body of the garment is constricted by this disposition of the parts so that the samefalls into natural lines, and will not present an extremely baggy appearance which is so objectionable, the folds in the back 9 serving to compensate for the depth which exists when the body of a wearer is within the garment. v
lf a customer` desires to try a garment on it will be obvious that it will be but the work of an instant to remove the tag from the position indicated so that this fitting may be accomplished, and thus all of the objects specified in the preamble of this specication has been accomplished, and it will be understood that numerous modifications of structure might readily be resorted to without in the least departing from the spirit of my invention, which l claim as:
l. In combination with a garment and belt having certain parts secured to said gal-nient, at points well spaced from each other, of means adapted to be associated With said belt, adjacent said points of attachment for consti-loting' said belt.
2. ln combination with a garment, a belt and tacked portions Well spaced from each other and serving to attach said belt to said garment, of a tag, and legs Yforming a part of said tag, said legs being adapted to extend between said belt and garment and 10 having their inner edges engaging said tacked portions.
