COMBING MACHINE.
APPLICATION FILED 3.12, 1920.
Ill/I11 Patented Jan. 3, 1922.
PATENT OFFICE- JAMES WILLIAM CLEGG, OF OLDHAM, ENGLAND.
COMBIN'G MACHINE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed February 12, 1920. Serial 'No. 358,290.
(GRANTED UNDER THE PROVISIONS OF THE ACT OF MARGH 3, 1921, 41 STAT. L, 1313.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JAMES WILLIAM CLEGG, a subject of the King of Great Britain, residing at Soho Iron Works, Oldham, in the county of Lancaster, England, have invented new and useful Improvements in Combing Machines, (for which he has obtained a patent in Great Britain, #116,061,
application filed February 27, 1918,) of
which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in combing machines of the Nasmith type.
fHitherto it has been customary in ma chines of this type to support thecylinder cover and the selvage guides from the sliver table. I
My present improvements consist essentially in mounting a bracket on or forming an extension of the stand or frame on each side'of the combing machine and supporting the cylinder cover and selvage guides adjustably, therefrom.
I illustrate my invention by the accom-' panying drawing which is a side sectional elevation of a combing machine of the Nasmith type fitted with my improved arrangement for supporting and setting the cylinder cover and selvage guides.
In this view-a designates the comb cylcure one of the pair of selvage guides z, and i also the cylinder cover j.
The lower end ofthe cylinder cover j is shaped at 9" to fit and bear against the front Patented J an. 3, 1922.
of the beam 9 and near its upper end it is lents the selvage guides i can be adjusted on their supporting brackets h. a
What I claim as my invention and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States is 1. In a combing machine having a rota- .table comb cylinder, the combination of a frame for supporting said cylinder, a bracket securedvto said frame adjacent to each. end of the cylinder, a cylinder cover adjustably connected to each of said brackets, and selvage guides adjustably coni nected to said brackets.
2. In a combing machine, the combination of a frame, a cylinder mounted for rotation in said frame, a bracket secured to said frame adjacent to the end of said cylinder, a cylinder cover provided witha pair of slotted projections, a bolt carried by each of said brackets and adapted to engage the slot of one of said projections for adjustably securing said cover to said brackets,
and selvage guides adjustably connected to said brackets.
' In testimony whereof I have signed'my name to this specification.
JAMES WILLIAM CLEGG.
