Be it known that I, ll nnonnion H. MANs- FIELD, a citizen of the United States, residing at ll ashington, in the District of Columbia, have invented certain new and useful lmprovements in Luggage-Carriers, of which the following is a specification.
This invention is directed to an improvement in package or basket carriers, constructed primarily as a single element, and adapted for convenient application to and removal from the bicycle.
The carrier is preferably constructed of :1 single length of wire or flexible rod, having supporti arms, which by reason of the -haracter of the material, are permit-ted a limited adjustment to accommodate articles of different sizes. T he carrier is peculiarly formed to interlock with the handle-bar and steering post extension of the bicycle, to secure the carrier more or less rigidly in place for use without interfering with its convenient removal when not desired for use.
In the drawings Figure 1 is a perspective view, illustrating the application and use of the carrier.

The improved carrier is constructed of heavy wire or metal rod, and the main len 1th thereof is shaped to provide supporting" arms 1, arranged in the same plane and having upturned ends or terminals 2 to provide guards. The arms 1 which may be of any desired or appropriate length have upturned inner sections 3, which at their upper ends are laterally projected at l, then formed in return heads 5, with forward projections 6. The portions 4 and 6 at the upper end of each arm portion provide loops for the handle bar l-i, such loops opening toward the front as shown.
From the forward ends of the portions 6, the wire or rod extends in an inwardlydirected horizontal loop portion made up of a lateral length 7 and rearward extension 8, these horizontal loop portions forminga bearingon the upper side of the handle bar. From the rear ends of the horizontal loop portions, that is the rear ends of the extensions 8, the wire or rod length is projected downwardly and connect to form a central approximately vertical and upwardly opening loop 9, adapted to engage the usual handle bar extension B from beneath as shown.

central loop to engage from beneath with the handle bar extension; forwardly-opening loops to engage with the handle bar proper on each side of the extension; bearing portions to engage with the upper surface of the handle bar; and carrier arms to be arranged preferably below and in front of the handle bar to receive package or basket as Q. The structure is preferably an integral one, and the various formations secured by suitably bending the wire or red.
The carrier is applied in an obvious manner: F or example the carrier loop formation as a whole may be moved in rear of the handle bar, then upwardly to engage the loop 9 with the handle bar extension B; then forwardly to engage the loops l56 with the handle bar. The arms, it will he noted are connected only at the rear ends and thus their free or forward ends may be moved toward or from each other certain limits, to more readily accommodate variously sized packages or the like.
Having thus described my invention what I claim is 1- 1. A bicycle basket carrier formed with a central perpendicular upwardly opening loop portion adapted to engage beneath the handle bar extension, forwardly opening loops to engage the handle bar on each side of the extension, and arms depending from and proj ectingin advance of such forwardly opening loops.
2. A bicycle basket carrier formed of a single length of wire and havinga perpendicular ll-shaped portion with its bigrht en gaging the under side of the handle bar extension and hooked shaped side loops eX- tending at right angles to said perpendicular portion and adapted to engage tie handle bar at opposite sides of said extension. and carrier arms projecting in advance of said. side loops and connected with the outer portions of the latter.
