To all whom it may concern.
Be it known that I, RAYMOND W. DULL, a citizen of the United States, residing at La Grange, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Links for Chain Belts, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to integral links for chain belts formed from sheet metal of substantially uniform thickness.
Some of the objects of my invention are to provide a wide, supporting base for the hook; substantially tubular, closely fitting, interlocking pintle and hook ends; and to form said parts so as to reduce the waste of material in stamping the link from the blank to a minimum.
Other objects and advantages not herein necessary to be mentioned will be found characteristic of my invention.
It will be understood that I do not wish to be limited to the particular proportions of parts here shown as they may be greatly varied without departing from the spirit of my invention. The hook end is shown in the preferred form but it can be made in any one of a variety of ways. The pintle end may be made as suggested by its parts beingbent in either direction.
The invention illustrated-in the accompanying drawings, wherein:

Fig. 3 is a side elevation of a section of a chain composed of such links.
Like parts are indicated by the same letters in all the figures.
A is the blank, the body of which is sub stantially rectangular in form with the projection B at one end. C indicates the inner part of the link which is stamped out along the lines indicated by C to form the hook. The finished link comprises the side bars D, D, the end bars E, 'F, and the two portions C, B. The end bar E is bent to one side ofthe body of the link so as to form a portion of the hook and the hook portion C is then bent from the inner edge of the side bar E down and around, up wardly and inwardly toward the outer edge of the side bar so as to form a hook. The pintle end is formed by bending the side Specification of Letters Patent.

bars at a distance from the end of the hole left by stamping out the part C and then bending the end bar F around and bending the part B around between the side bars D, D, until its end edge is in substantial contact with the other edge oi the side bar F These bends can take place in either direction, but I prefer to have them so that the approaching or opposed edges of the parts which form the two tubular ends lie on the same side of the body of the link.
It will of course be observed that some of the features of my invention can be obtained without using the others.
It will be understood of course that the Size and proportions of the several parts could be greatly varied without departing from the spirit of my invention and I do not wish therefore to be limited to the pre cise relations shown in the drawings.
Claims: I
1. An integral single thickness sheet metal chain link comprising two side and two end bars and two substantially tubular ends, the pintle end having an external diameter approximately the same as the internal diameter of the hook, and the hook end consisting of an end bar bent away from the body of the link and a second part out from the body of the link departing from the inner edge of such end bar and bent around until close to and in opposition to the outer edge of said end bar.

An integral single thickness sheet metal chain link comprising two side and two cnd bars and two substantially tubular ends, the pintle end havingan external diameter approximately the same as the internal diameter of the hook, and the hook end consisting of an end bar bent away from the body of the link and a second part cut from the body of the link departing from the inner edge of such end bar and bent around until close to and in opposition to the outer edge of said end bar, the opposed edges of the parts which form the hook and the pintle ends being on the same side of the link.
3. An integral single thickness sheet metal chain link comprising two side and two end bars and two substantially tubular ends. the pintle end having an external diameter approximately the same as the internal diameter of the hook, and the hook end consisting of an end bar bent away from the body of the link and a second part out from the body of the link departing from the inner edge of such end bar and bent around until close to and in opposition to the outer edge of said end bar, the pintleand hook ends projecting on both sides of the body of the link.

An integral single thickness sheet metal chain link comprising two side and two end bars and two substantially tubular ends, the pintle end having an external diameter approximately the same as the internal diameter of the hook, and the hook end consisting of an end bar bent away from the body of the link and a second part out from the body of the link departing from the inner edge of such end bar and bent around until close to and in opposition to the outer edge of said end bar, the opposed edges of the parts which form the hook and the pintle ends being on the same side of the link, the pintle and hook ends projecting on both sides of the body of the link.

An integral single thickness sheet metal chain link comprising two side and two end bars and two substantially tubular ends, the pintle end having an external diameter approximately the same as the internal-diameter of the hook, and the hook end consisting ofan end bar bent away from the body of the link and a second part out from the body of the link departing from the inner edge of such end bar and bent around until close to and in opposition to the outer edgeof said end bar, the opposed edges of the parts which form the pintle being so far bent as to overlap.

An integral single thickness sheet metal chain link comprising two side and two end bars and two substantiallytubular ends, the pintle end having an external diameter approximately the same as the internal diam eter of the hook, and the hook end consiste ing of an end bar bent away from the body of the link and a second part out from the body of the link departing from the inner edgeof such end bar and bent around until close'to and in opposition to the outer edge of said end bar, the opposed edges of the parts which form the book being separated by a distance equal substantially to the thickness of the sheet metal, the opposed edges of the parts which form the pintle being so far bent as to overlap.

An integral single thickness sheet metal chain link comprising two side and two end bars and two substantially tubular ends, the pintle end having an external diameter approximately the same as the internal diameter of the hook, the pintle end consisting of an end bar and an outer projection there from, the two being bent to form a cylinder, the hook end consisting'of an end bar bent away from the body of the link and a second part out out from the body of thelink and bent around until close to and in opposition to the outer edge of such bar.

An inte ral single thickness sheet metal chain link comprising two side and two end bars and two substantially tubular ends, the pintle end having an external diameter approximately the same as-the internal diameter of the hook, the link adapted to be struck from an imperforate link blank, the pintle end being formed in part from an outward projection from one end of said blank.
