R. W. DULL.
LINK FOR CHAlN BELTS. APPLICATION FILED MAR.22, I920.
Patented Nov. 8, 1921 lvw/enor 712 192 6,595 Raymond 7/. ,DZLZZ RAYMOND W. DULL, O F LA GRANGE, ILLINOIS, ASSIGNOR TO LINK OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS,
BELT COMPANY,
A CORPORATION OF ILLINOIS.
LINK FOR CHAIN-BELTS.
Application filed March 22, 1920. Serial No. 367,655.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, RAYMOND W. DULL,
a citizen of the United States, residin at aa Grange, in the county of Cook and l tate of Illinois, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Links for Chain- Belts, of which the following is a specification.
'My invention relates to integral links for chain belts formed from sheet metal of substantially uniform thickness.
Some of the objects of my invention are to provide a wide, supporting base for the hook; substantially tubular, closely fitting, interlocking pintle and hook ends; to form such'pintle' and hook ends so that the edges of their parts may be on the upper side of the link; a'nd to so form the end forming parts as to diminish the waste of material.
Other objects and advantages not herein necessary to mention will be found charac teristics of my invention.
It will be'understo'od that I do not wish to be limited to the particular proportions of parts here shown as they may be greatly varied without departing from the spirit of my invention. The hook end is shown in the preferred form but it can be made in any one of a variety of ways.
he invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein:
Figure 1 is a view of ablank;
Fig. 2 is a plan view of a complete link made from such blank;
Fig. 3 is a side elevation of a chain section made from such links.
Like parts are indicated by the same letters in all the figures.
A, A are side bars on opposite sides of the opening B. C and D are end bars; E and F, portions which are intended to be cut and upwardly and outwardly bent to form parts of the two ends and G is a hook portion. If a short link is desired, the hole can be suppressed and if desired, the length of the projection F could more nearly equal the depth of the space between the two free end of the sidebars A, A so that successive links could be cut from a sheet of metal with a minimum waste of material. This latter isone of the important features of this invention.
Specification of Letters iacent.
Patented Nov. 8, 1921.
It will of course be observed that some of the features of my invention can be obtamed without using the others.
laims:
l. An integral single thickness sheet metal chain link bars projecting beyond the end bar and a part which projects from the inner edge of the side bar bent out of line with the llIlk body and toward each other so as to have their opposed ends on the same side of the link body. '2 An integral single thickness sheet metal cha n link comprising two side and two end bars and two substantially tubular ends, the pintle end having an external diameter approximately the same asthe internal diameter of the hook end, the intle end consist ngof one end bar and two side bars pro ectlng beyond the end bar and a part which projects from the inner ed e of the slde bar bent out of line with the ink body and toward each other so as to have their opposed ends on the body 3. An integral single thickness sheet metal chain link comprisin two side and two end same side of the link body and toward each other so as to have their opposed ends on the same side of the link body, the hook end consisting of the end bar and two parts projecting therefrom in opposite directions, said parts being curved out of alinement with the link body and toward each other.

An integralsingle thicknesssheet metal i side and two end bars and two substantially tubular ends, the
pintle end having an external diameter approximately the same as the internal diam- -eter of the hookend, both ends projecting 7 above and belowthebody-consisting, the
o pintleend'of one end bar and two side bars projecting beyond the end;bar,and a part which projects from the inner, edge of the side bar, bent out of line with the link body and'toward each other so thattheir opposed ends are adjacent each other; 5
w 6. An integral, single thickness sheet metal chain link comprising two side and two end bars and two-substantially tubular ends, the
pintle end having an external diameter approximatelythe same as the internal diameter of the hook end, the pintle end consisting of one bar and two. side bars projecting beyond the end bar anda part which projects, from the inner edge of the side the inner edge 'ofthe l part the side bar, the hook end consisting of the end bar and two partsprojecting therefrom in opposite directions,
and toward each other,
bar, bent out of line with the link body and bars'and two substantially tubular--nds,'
the pintle end-having 'an-external diameter approximately the same as the internal diameter of the hook end, both ends projecting above and belowthe body and the pintle end consisting of one end bar and two-side barsprojecting beyond the end bar and a which projects from the inner edge of said parts curved outofalinement .with the link body thickness sheet metal 8; An integral single slde and two end chainlink comprising, two bars and two substantially proximately the same as the internal diam-' eter of the hook end, the pintle end consisting of curved out of alinement with the body andtoward each other.
