CUTTING- CLOAKS.

Specification of Letters Patent No. 13,926, dated December 11, 1855.

To all whom fit may concern.'

i Be it known that I, AMAsA S. THOMPSON, of Albion, Erie county, Pennsylvania, have invented a new and Improved Changeable Cloak, which can be changed at the pleasure of the wearer into a sack-coat, an Oriental cloak, and the circle-cloak; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings and the letters of reference marked thereon.

Figure 3 is a side view of my magic changeable cloak showing all the seams and buttons necessary for the changes designed and which can be shown' in a drawing. I cut the cloth from C to D and from E to F, likewise constructing the point F, G, H. The seams C, D, and E F when unbuttoned and the sides N M and P, O, of the sleeve piece L buttoned together forms the sleeve of a sack coat as shown O, P,.and M N, Fig. 2. In this arrangement the seam C, D, of the back Q is buttoned to the row of buttons F, R, so that the button I of Fig. 3 is the button I of Figs. 1 and 2.` I construct the point F, G, H by cutting it out of the sleeve piece L and inserting another piece of cloth in its place. From G to Hare one or more buttons to button the point F, G, H to the piece which is inserted in its place in the sleeve piece L. The point I, Fig. 3 when I wish to change my cloak to a sack coat is buttoned to the point K by a button and buttonhole or loop 1, 2 on the lining of the coat, and the point S is buttoned to the point T by a button and buttonhole or loop 3, l, also on the inside the coat.

Vhat I claim as my invention and desire to secure by Letters Patent is- Cutting a cloak from a seamless cloth Without sleeves but so that by making four cuts of the proper length for the sleeves, the cloak may be -worn as a sleeved sack or 'overcoat, by merely changing the buttonings,

substantially in the manner described.
