IMPROVEMENT IN WAGON-BODIES.
Specication forming part of Letters Patent No. 138,506, dated May 6, 1873 application iiled September 16, 1872.
Nature and Object of the Invention.
The nature of our invention consists in the construction and arrangement of a wagonbody, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.
Description of the Drawing forming part of this Specification.
Figure l is a perspective view of our invention; Fig. 2, a sectional view ofthe end of one of the sides of the wagon, showing the fasten- -ings and Fig. 3, one of the hooks on the bottom of the wagon that the eyes on the side piece hook into to hold them in position.
General Description.
A is the body; B, the hinges, secured to the sides of the body. C is a spring which holds the hooks D to the hinges. These springs are onthe hinges at the rear end of the wagonbody, and engage into a notch, P, in the hook and prevent the eye from slipping off from the hook. E is a key-bolt secured to the sides of the wagon-body, with a feather on one side, so` that when the seatframe F, which has an elongated hole in its end, is slipped on over the key-bolt and turned down, it will be held in position; Gr, the hook which secures the frame to the sides of the wagon-body; H, the seat. I is a spring-bolt which holds the end pieces in place. K is a bolt attached to the side of the wagon-body, over which slips one end of the bolt L, which is secured to the end piece. The spring-bolt I catches in a notch in the bolt K and holds the end piece inplace. M are holes through the bottom piece, in which the projections of the bolt L enter and hold the end piece in place. The end-gate may be hinged to the end of the wagon body, if desired. N is a piece of metal with projection on the sides for a stake to sit between to prevent the body from sliding forward or backward.
To take thisbodyto pieces, take' the seat H 0E of the frame; then raise the frame-pieces F up to a perpendicular and slip them off of' the keybolts E; then force back the spring-bolts I and the endgate is detachable 5' press back theV springs C and the side pieces will come out If the seat is in the way of loading, turn it back into an upright position.
i Claims.
We claim as our invention- 1. Key-bolt E, frame F, hooks Gr, :and seat H, all in combination with wagon-body A, substantially as described.
2. A wagon-body, the sides and ends of which are joined together by the bolts K and L, and spring-bolt I, substantially as described.
