Be it known that I, WILLIAM C. ROGERS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Fort Sheridan, in the county of Lake and State of Illinois,'have invented new and useful Improvements in Watch-Holders,,of which the follow-ing is a specification.

Thisv invention comprehends generally improvements in watch holders and more particularly relates to a watch holder for attachment on garment sleeves.

designed for attachment on the sleeve of a garment such as a shirt or coat for firmly yet detachably holding a watch in position so that it, is unnecessary to disconnect the watch by reason ofthe fact that it may be moved upwardly with the garment sleeve to a position so that it will not'interfere with the washingof the hands and subsequently'will, of course, move into the desired position upon the lowering of the garment sleeve.

More particularlyv the present invention consists in the provision of a device of the above mentioned character wherein cooperative attaching and retaining members are employed for detachably supporting a watch inposition on the sleeve of a garment.

More specific obj ects of this invention consist in theprovision of a device of the above mentioned character wherein the attaching member is of a novel form and constructed of resilienti metal to permit of the bowlng of the-member whenithe retaining member is attached thereto; and to also provide a retaining member- 0f an improved construction.

It is an additional object of this invention to provide a deviceof the above mentioned character which is simple in construction, thoroughly reliable and-efficient in its purpose and inexpensive inmanufacture.

Referring now, more particularly, to the accompanying drawings there is illustrated a garment sleeve 1 formed with spaced button holes 2 in which is mounted theqimproved holder 3 for a watch-4. f In the present instance the improved holder may be said to consistof anattaching member 5 formed from a single pieceof resilient strap metal and. consisting of a base or body 6 theend, portions of which are bent upwardly to provide terminal flanges 7 and these flanges are formed near their upper ends with opposed rectangularopenings 8. One of the flanges 14 is inserted through one of. the openings 8 so that the nib or lug 15 thereof will embrace the upper edge of the said opening whereupon the ring like body 12 is swung so as to embrace the bezel 16 of the watch. Just before the ring like body snugly embraces the bezel the other flange 14- is arranged against the inner surface of the opposite flange 7, said flange and the bodyor base '5 beingslightly bowed at the time this engagement is made and the application of pressure on the member 3 for the bowing of the body 5-thereof is continued until the last mentioned nibbed flange engages the opening 8 in the adjacent flange 7 in such a manner that the lug or nib 15 of the said flange l4 embraces the outer surface of the flange 7 near the upper edge of the opening. When the parts are applied in this manner the retainer serves to prevent displacement of the loops 9 from the attaching member while the loops in turn prevent" movement of the watch f relative to the at taching and retaining members. Of course, the part may be disconnected by bowlng 'thebody or base 5 to permit of the disen gagement of one of the flanges '7 from the adjacent or lugged flange 14. It'is to be observed that in practice it is desirable to construct the nibsor lugs 15 equal to the thickness of the flange 14 and to provide the openings 8 of a height sufficient to accommodate these nibs.

'In Fig. 5 there is shown another form of the invention and in this instance instead of employing two members for attaching the watch there is employed only one memher which acts to attach and retain. the watch.

This member is formed from a single strip of resilient strap metal and consists of'a' body 17 the outer ends of which are bent upwardly to form upright flanges 18 which in turn are formed at their terminals with nibs 19 extending outwardly in opposite directions. In attaching the device the flanges are inserted through the button holes a 1 20 in the garment sleeve and also through the opposite loops 22 on the watch 23 being drawn or pressed toward each other just before being passed through the loops so that when released the nibs will engage the outer or intermediate portions of the loops so as to assureof the, attaching and retention of the watch in position. p p 7 It is believed in view of the foregoing description that a further detailed description of the operation of the invention is entirely unnecessary, Likewise itis believed: that the advantages of the invention will be readily apparen. 1

Vhile there has been illustrated and de scribed a preferred embodiment of the ing vention itis apparent that many modifications may be made therein by any person skilled in the art without departing from the scope of the invention as expressed in the claims. Therefore, it is to be understood that this invention is not limited to all of openings and projecting through said loops on thewatch casing which lies against the opposite face of the article from the attaching member, and a retaining member lying against the Watch casing and formed with offset flanges engaging in said openings. 1

A watchholder having a body portion for positioning against one face of an; article of Wearing apparel, members carried by said at a plurality of points whereby the said body portion is precluded froma shifting of position, and means engageable with said members for holding a watch against the OPPOSlliGqSldG of said article of apparel.

A watch holder having a body portion for positioningagainstone face of an article of wearing apparel, the said body portion having means for penetrating said apparel at a plurality of points to preclude any shifting in position of the body member, the said body portion and the said 'lneans being 1'85 sihent, and a watch retaining means engageable with the first said means when the latter have beensprung apart, whereby a '85 body portion and penetrating'said apparel watch may be secured against the opposite face of said apparel.
