To all whom t may concern:
Be it known that l, RACHEL Bennouma citizen of the United States, residing at Seymour, in the county of Jackson and State of Indiana, have invented certain new and useful Improvements'in Combination Porch-Swings and Cribs, of which the fol' lowing isa specification.
The object of this invention is to provide a po-rch swing with means for converting a portion thereof into a crib in which an infant may be placed and protected, while the other part of the swing may be used for other purposes. K
A further objectof `theinventionis to provide means for this purpose which may be easily applied to swings of various kinds and sizes, and which when not needed for use may be detached from the swing and folded or rolled so as to occupy only a small space for transportation or storage.
According to my invention the crib attachment is constructed of two end parts,v
and an eXtensible and collapsible side which connects the ends of the crib and which is.
so constructed that the crib member may be given any desired length. Preferably the side consists of lazy-tongs which mayv be very easily extensible andV collapsible and which at the same time are strong andprovide desirable ventilation. the side are provided with fastening devices which are adapted to engage corresponding fastening devices on the swing.
In the accompanying drawings Figure i is a perspective view of a com-I` bination swing and crib embodying my im* y provements.
Fig. 2 shows a transverse section thereof.
Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the crib `member detached and partially folded.
Fig. e is -a detail view showing the manner of connecting the lazy-tongs to the posts.
Theporch swing A is of well known con# struction, being of sofa or settee stylesuspended by chains B. The cribmember comprises ends@ and D and a collapsible and extensible side E.' Each end-member consists of two posts o, c or d, ci connected by canvas Vor other suitable material F or F.v The side E consists of lazy-tongs, the ends of the lazy-tongs being pivotally connected 1 with the. posts c and d near their upper and lower ends. p' As shown in Fig. 4, the ends of the lazy- `tongs are so connected with theposts that' A they have freedom of movement when open` Specification of Letters Patent. n
Vposts,.said arms being pivotally engage eyes 7o on a rear corner lmember is provided with hooks engage eyes 'm` on the back of the swing.'

ing and closing. For this purpose'the end .bars'acvv of the lazy-tongs may be pivoted at y -to arms .e extending through slots in the connected with the lposts as shown. I
The crib member is Vshown y separately in F ig. 3 and as will be observed it may be folded into a ysmall .space for` transportation or storage.V Fig. 3 showsthe member only Vpartially folded.v l
ySuitable fasteningy devices are employedl i for attaching the crib to the'swing. v Preferably I use hooks g on the post alV adapted to engage eyes L on swing and hooks'z'i on the postV oladapted to post of the The post c" of the opposite end Z- adapted to swing.
The post c has a hook n adapted to engage y an eyem on the rfront bottom rail'of the swing. The length of the crib may be varied at will to accommodate a mattress or cushion a front corner post ofthe M o-f any desired length. An infant maybe.
placed in the crib whenthe latteris mounted and secured .in the manner indicated in 4ig. l, while the nurseror mother can be that portion ofl the swing not ocuse, the fastening devicesinaybey detached and the crib member j may be folded and stored in the manner' before described.V 'Fastening devices o may also `be provided where indicated to secure the. side member to Vthe front bottom rail ofthe swing.
, While'lhave shown my improvements applied Yto a porch. swing'it is obvious that.
they may be lapplied to other articles yof furniture of a similar-nature; Y i I-claim as myv invention: l l. A crib member attachment for swings, comprising ends, each `consisting of posts and a connecting flexible member,l and aside ,memberwconnectinv the end members `con-v sisting. of. lazy-tongs.
