UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE,
ROBERT H. COWLEY, OF SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH.
DISPLAY-FORM.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented May 10, 1921.
T 0 all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ROBERT H. COWLEY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Salt Lake City, in the county of Salt Lake and State of Utah, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Display- Forms, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in display forms and refers particularly to an inflatable form for displaying hosiery.
The main object of my invention is the provision of a display form which, when collapsed, will occupy a very small space and which when inflated will provide a perfect form for the display or exhibition of hosiery and which can be quickly inflated and deflated.
Another object of my invention is the provision of a display form which can be produced cheaply, which will be yery light in weight, which will possess lasting qualities, and which will be eflicient and practical in every respect.-
To attain the desired objects, the invention consists of an inflatable display form embodying novel features of constructlon. substantially as shown, described and claimed herein.
In order that the detailed construction and manner of using my device may be understood and its many advantages be appreciated, I have shown in the accompanying drawings a display form constructed in accordance with my invention.
Figure 1 is a pcrspective view of the displav form with a stocking thereon.
Fig. 2 is a top plan view of the cap member which supports the form.
Fi 3 is a detail sectional view of the cap member and a part of the body of the form, and
Fig. 4 is a side elevation of a modified construction of the device.
The display form is particularly useful for exhibiting stockings, although it may be used for any purpose where it would fulfil the functions, and consists of a cap member A, provided with an air supply valve B, for inflating the body member C, the body member being either clamped between or secured to the flanges D of the said cap member.
In the modified construction the infiatable body is provided along the front and sides with reinforcing strips E to insure lasting qualities and to impart a certain amount of rigidity to the body.
In use the stocking F, fits upon the inflated body. such inflation being produced by forcing air through the valve in the cap to cause the body to completely shape and fit the stocking, and to deflate and remove the form it is only-necessary to release the air through the-valve in the usual and well known manner.
It is evident that I produce a commercial article which is cheap, easy to apply andremove. light in weight, and highly'desirable for the purposes intended.
I claim:
The inflatable display form herein described, for exhibiting a complete womans stocking consisting of a cap member composed of two cup-shaped elements fitting together, an air valve having its lower end passing through and connecting the elements in said member, an inflatable body member secured at its upper edge to said cap member, and vertically disposed reinforcing strips in the body member disposed at the front and back and on each side of said body member of flexible material and extending the entire length of said body member.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature.
ROBERT H. COWLEY.
