Specification of Letters Patent.

T 0 all whom it may concern: I Be it known that I, ANGELO CUOMO, a citizen of the United States, residing at Astoria,
count of Queens, Long Island, State of New ork, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Milk-Bottle Tops, fully described and represented in the following specification and the accompanying drawings, forming a part of the same.
This invention relates to closures for bottles, and particularly to that class of closures usually occur.
For a full understanding of the invention, a detailed description of a construction embodying the invention in its preferred form, and designed especially for use in connection with milk bottles, will now be given in connection with the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification, and the features forming the invention then specificallv pointed out in the claims.

Referring now to the drawing, and es e cially Fig. 1, the device consists of a tubu ar cap piece 1 having secured to its base an annular rubber apron or flexible washer 2, and forming in effect the bottle mouth engaging portion of the cap plece 1, such washer being secured between a flange 3, preferably formed integral with the cap piece 1, and a collar 4 forming a support or backing therefor when the device 1s 1n position on a bottle mouth. Loosely mounted on the cap piece 1 is an annular plate or collar 5. Between this plate 5 and collar 4, and encircling the cap piece 1, 1s a spiral spring 6 which exerts its force to keep the annular plate 5 and collar 4 separated.
In order that the cap piece wlth the parts mounted thereon as above described may be securely fastened to the bottle neck, I provide a circumferential bottle-neck band 7, having finger holds 8 on each end thereof,
and an opening 9 and lug 10 on its respective ends to enable such band to be locked about the bottle neck. The neck band 7 is secured to the annular plate 5 by links or chains 11.
It will be obvious from the foregoing that by so linking the annular plate 5 to the neck band/7, the pressure exerted by thus compressing sprmg 6 will push the cap piece 1 tightly onto the mouth of the bottle, the rubber washer or apron 2 providing an efficient sealing means at this point in case of anv unevenness 1n the bottle or receptacle to wh1ch the device may be applied.
The cap piece 1 is p'ovided on its upper part with an upwardly extending tubular spout l2, and 1n order to facilitate pouring and prevent bubbling of the liquid, I provide 1n the pouring orifice a small tube 13, the upper open end of which is flush with the pourlng' orifice, and its opposite end being bent around on itself as at 14 (Fig. 1). W th the tube thus arranged, the air entering the upper end of the tube 13 to displace the liquid poured will have ready access to the bottle, thereby preventing the formation of a partial vacuum and consequent bubbllng, and enabling a smooth even stream of liquid to flow from the spout. The pouring orifice is covered by a hinged spring-actuated cap 15 having a spring or snap catch 16 of any Well known construction, the cap 15 preferably being lined with a suitable flexible material, such as rubber, 17 adapted to engage an annular flange 19 when the cover is closed and thus form an air-tight joint.
While the construction shown and described is a preferred one, it will be understood that certain changes and variations mav be made as to the details without departing from the invention.
What I claim is:
1. A bottle cap comprising a circumferential neck band, a spring premed cap piece having a pouring orifice and cover therefor, a movable member and a rigid member mounted on said cap piece, a spring supported by said cap piece and normally tending to separate said members, links between the neck band and movable member to increase the tension of said spring when the device is in use, and means in the pouring prific; to prevent bubbling of the poured 2. connections between the neck band and the movable member and adapted to maintain the bottle cap in position under spring tension, and an air inlet tube positioned in the pouring orifice.

A bottle closure comprising a cap piece, a flexible Washer and rigid backing plate therefor secured to said cap piece, an annular plate loosely mounted on said cap piece, a coil spring encircling said cap piece and normally exerting its pressure to separate the annular plate and washer backing'plate, a circumferential bottle neck band linked to said annular plate, a tubular spout formed on said cap piece, a cover therefor, and an air inlet tube located in said spout.
4. A bottle closure comprising a cap piece, a washer and backing therefore secured to said cap piece, an annular plate loosely mounted on said cap piece, a spring sup ported by said cap piece and normally separating said annular plate and washer backing, a bottle neck band, links connecting said band and annular plate, a spout formed on said cap piece, a spring cover for said spout, liquid sealing means carried by said cover, and a spring latch therefor.
55. A temporary bottle closure comprising a cap piece having a pouring spout, a collar loosely mounted on said cap piece, a spring mounted on said cap piece, a bottle neck band, and connections from the neck band to said loose collar for holding said spring under compression.
6. A temporary bottle closure comprising a cap piece having a pouring orifice covered by a spring actuated cap, a collar loosely mounted on said cap piece, a spring encircling said cap piece, a bottle neck band and connections therefrom to said loose collar normally holding said spring under compression, and an air inlet tube disposed in the pouring orifice.
