citizen of the United States, and a resident of vVilkinsbur in the county of Allegheny and State of lennsylvania, have inv nted a new and useful Improvement in Lamp- Fixtures, of which the following is a specification. I
My invention relates to lamp fixtures and particularly to means for attaching the globes thereof to the bodies of the same.
The object of my invention is to provide a simple and efficient means for securing globes having neck portions of different widths to a lamp and for insuring an airtight joint therebetween.
In lamp globes, of the type having a body portion of bowl shape and a cylindrical neck portion adjacent to the opening therein, it is usual to provide a groove in the neck-portion for the reception of a bail member. The bail member is, in turn, usually adapted to cooperate with stationary hook members on the lamp body to causethe neck portionof the globe to engage its seat. It is thus obvious that, if the globe seat, hook members and bail member have a fixed permanent inter-relation, the neck portion of the globe will necessarily have to be of a predetermined width to provide an air-tight globe closure. v I v In manufacturing globes of this type in large numbers, by reason of the nature of the facilities, it has been found a great step in cheapening the cost'of production to be permittedto ignore. within'reasonable lim-P its. the widths of the neck portions of the same. a

a resiliently mounted relatively movable globe seat that telescopically engages a flange on the hood and, in con unction with depending hooks on the hood and a bail memb r. provide means for readily mounting and insuring an air-tight seat fora globe of the ordinary bowl type, regardless of the width of the neck portion of the same.

1. 2. A lamp' structure comprising a lampe supporting housing having a dependingj flange and depending lugs, and; a member providing a relatively movable air-tight v I globe seat resiliently attached to the lugs and embracing the flange at all times.
3. A lamp structure comprising a lamp supporting housing having a depending flange and depending lugs, a member pro viding a relatively movable air-ti ht globe seat resiliently attached to the ugs and embracing the flange, and means for resiliently securing a globe in contact with the seat disposed on the housing.
4. A lamp structure comprising a lampsupporting housing having a depending flange and depending lugs, and a member providing a relatively movable air-tight globe seat resiliently attached to the lugs and telescopically engaging the flange at allutimes. In a lamp structure, the combination with a hood, stationary members depending therefrom for supporting a globe having a neck portion adjacent its open end, and a bail member for supporting the globe disposed on one slde of the neck portion and having a constant operative relation to the said supporting members, of means cont;
prising a globe seat movably disposed on the hood forpositi'oning the bail member, regardless of variations in the width of the said neck portion.
6. A lamp' structure comprisinp: a hood iaving an inner cylindrical flange and re cessed depending lugs, screws disposed in the lugs and having heads spaced therefrom, a circular globe seat member resting on the said heads, springs embracin the screws between the lugs and the globe-seat member, a cylindrical member for telescopically engaging the said flange mounted on the globe-seat member, depending bailsupporting members on the hood, and a bail member for disposition on a globe of the usual bowl type on one side of the neck portion thereof, the whole structure providing means for adjusting globes having neck portions of different widths to the hood and an air-tight joint therebetween.
7. The com'bination with a lamp structure having a support, an attaching member having fixed operative relation to the support, a globe suspended from the attaching member and having a rimportio'n disposed between the support and the attaching member,;ofa seat for the rim yieldinglv disposed between the support and the globe and movable to accommodate variations in the dimensions of the portion of the globe between the support and the said attachingmember.
8. The combination with a lamp structure having a support, a globe having an open end, and an attaching member for the globe having a fixed operative relation to the support for suspending the globe beneath the hood, or" an adjustable seat disposed between the support and the attaching memher for engaging the open end of the globe regardless of its relative position'with respect to the support.
9. In a lamp structure; the combination with a closed hood, a globe having an open end, and an attachingmember for the globe having a fixed operative relation to the hood for suspending the globe beneath the hood, of an adjustable sealing seat disposed between the hood and the attaching member for engaging the open end of the globe and substantially sealing the space between the. hood and the globe regardless of variations in the dimensions of the portionoi the globe between the hood "and the point of suspension of the globe;
10.
