LOCK. APPLICATION FILED mm1, 1919.
Patented Apr, 55 H2L 77 if ffy/ r 't @51er UITED MARTIN SEMER, NEW YORK, Ill'. Y.
LOCK.
Application filed February il, 1919.
To all whom it 'may concern:
Be it known that I, MARTIN SIEMER, a
citizen of the United States, residing at New York, in the county of New York, State of New York, have invented new and useful Locks; and I do'hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
The invention relates to locks and has for its object to rovide a lock wherein the lock carried by t e door and the striker lplate carried and secured to door jamb will, when the door is closed interlock, thereby preventing the springing of a door by a tool inserted between the edge thereof and the door jamb.
A further object is to provide a lock carried by the door with an integral apertured plate, the apertures of which receive lugs carried by a striker plate when the door is closed, and to provide a sliding bolt carried by the lock, said sliding bolt engaging an aperture in the striker plate, thereby formin means whereby the door may be locked, dll/'ith the above and other objects in view the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts as hereinafter set forth, shown in the drawings, described and claimed it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention may be made within the scope of what is claimed without departing from the spirit of the invention.
In the drawings Figure 1 is a front elevation of a lock showing thesame applied to a door.
Fig. 2 is a sectional view through the edge of a door and a portion ofa door jamb,
showing the lock and striker plate applied' thereto.
Fig. 3 is a sectional view takeny on line 3-3 of Fig. 1.
Fig. 4 is a perspective view of the striker plate.
Fig. n the lock.
Referring to the drawings, the numeral l designates a conventional form of door and 2 a door jamb. The door 1 is of the type that is hinged at one of its edges to the door jamb, its free end being adapted to be swung 3 to the side` to closed or open positlon.
Secured by means of screws i Specification oi Letters Patent.

Serial No. 276,267.
of a door is a lock 4, whichlock may be of any 'construction and the lock mechanism within the same may be of any type that is now in use. The lock is provided with slid- Ing bolt 5a adapted to be moved outwardly or inwardly to lock and unlock the door. When the door is shut the sliding bolt 5a enters an aperture 16 of the striker plate 17. The striker plate 17 is secured to the door jamb 2 by meansof screws 18. Striker plate 17 is provided on its outer face 19 with spaced outwardly extending lugs 20, said lugs 20 being disposed at right angles to the aperture 16 so that when the door is in closed position and the apertures 21 of the flange 22 of the lock have passed over the ends of the lugs and the slidable bolt 5a has been thrown in to lock the door, the interlocking engagement between the plate 22 and the lugs 2O will prevent the forcing of a tool between the free edge of the door and the door jamb for springing the door and jamb apart and forcing the lock.
The inventionhaving been set forth what is claimed as new and useful is A lock comprising a. body portion adapted to be secured to the surface of a door, said body portion having its end adjacent its router face provided with an apertured plate,
said plate extending outwardly parallel to. 85
the face of the door and spaced therefrom, a striker plate secured to the edge of the door jamb, the outer face of the striker plate being provided with a series of lugs adapted to be plate of the body member, said striker plate being of a thickness equal to the thickness of the body portion of the lock less the thickness of the apertured plate thereof so as to allow the door to close and a recess carried 95 by the striker plate and disposed between the lugs thereof and the door frame for the reception of the lock bolt, thereby locking the door at right angles so that the door will be prevented from swinging when a tool is inserted between the edge of the door and a door jamb.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
