To all whom it may concern Be it known that we, ALFRED DRosTN, a citizen of Russia, GEORGE J. DROSIN, a citizen of the United States, and HENRY B DRosIN, a citizen of Russia, and residents of the city of New York, borough of Manhattan, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Display Device, of which the iiollowing is a full, clear, and exact description.

his invention relates to improvements in display devices, an object of the invention being to provide a display device which is adapted to be supported in the windows or doors of restaurants and the like so as to display the menu or special dishes to be had for that particular day and time.

A further object is to provide a display device of the character stated which will permit the ready attachment and detachment of a menu card and which can be operatively held in proper display position and form a neat and attractive display device when in use.

Heretofore, it has been the common practice for restaurant proprietors to paste or otherwise attach menus or specials to the windows, but such menus become detached and especially is this true when the menus are placed on the outside of the glass and rain or snow and sweating of the glass cause a detaching or disfiguring of the menu.

It is the purpose of our invention to provide a menu holding display device which can be located either inside or outside of the window, which can be conveniently manipulated, which will be ornamental and attractive in appearance, and which will hold the menu properly positioned for display puroses.

With these and other objects in view the invention consists in certain novel features of construction, and combinations and arrangements of parts, as will be more fully hereinafter described and pointed out in the claim.

In the accompanying drawings Figure 1 is a view in front elevation illustrating our improved device.

a rod 2 and the latter is movably mounted in a bracket 3 secured to the frame 1 of'a window, door, or other like support. The bracket 3 illustrated provides a pair of opemngs 5 to receive the vertical portion 6 of the supporting rod 2 and allows the rod to be swung in the bracket to any position desired.

It is obvious that we may employ other forms of attaching and supporting means for the rod as may be necessary in connection with the particular location of the display device.

'lhe plate 1 is provided with a pair of screw eyes 7 adapted to receive the horizontal portion 8 of the rod 2 so that the plate is conveniently carried 'by the rod. The lower edge of the plate 1 is grooved or rabbeted, as shown at 9, to receive the upper edge of a menu card 10, and a spring clip 11 is provided on the plate 1 to removably secure the menu card to the plate and allow new menu cards to be attached from time to time as may be desired.

The plate 1 is also provided with an opening 12 through which a watch 13 can be displayed. A flexible backing plate or sheet 14 is secured to the rear face of the plate 1 and supports the watch in proper display position in the opening 12. It is, of course, to be understood that the opening 12 is of less diameter than the diameter of the watch so as to prevent the watch .from falling through the opening, but nevertheless the opening is large enough to fully display the face of the watch.

The stem 15 of the watch is accommodated in a recess 16 in the back of the plate 1 and the horizontal portion 8 of rod 2 extends across the stem of the watch to securely lock the watch in position.

The rod 2 in its horizontal portion 8 is provided with a U-shaped crank arm 17 and a screw eye 18 is mounted in the plate 1 and positioned between the two members of the U- haped crank arm; This screw eye, when turned to the position shown in Fig. 3, will secure the plate to the crank arm and prevent independent pivotal movement of I the rod or remove the plate from the rod, the screw eye 18 is turned to the dotted line position of Fig. 3 when the rod can be readily removed from the screw eyes 7 or the plate can be swung on the rod and adjusted as may be desired.

While We have illustrated What We believe to be a preferred embodiment of our invention, it is obvious that various changes might be made in the general details of the parts described Without departing from our invention, and hence We do not limit ourselves to the precise details set forth, but consider ourselves at liberty to make such changes and alterations as fairly fall within the 16 spirit and scope of the appended claim.

We claim: r

A display device, comprising a rod having 7 a U-shaped crank arm, a menu card supporting plate, eyes on the plate receiving the 20 rod, and a member connected to the plate and adapted to be positioned longitudinally between the members of the Ushaped crank arm or positioned transversely across said crank arm.
